Jenkins Closes in on Championship as CRA Street Stocks Finish the 2016 Season at Winchester Speedway

Salem, IN (October 5, 2016) – Veteran CRA racer Phil Jenkins just needs to start Saturday night’s CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS Season Championship 50 lap feature at Winchester Speedway to win his first ever CRA Championship. Saturday’s event will be the 13th event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks and the second event of the season at Winchester Speedway.

Jenkins second place finish in the series last event at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 25th gave him enough points to be position to win the title by just starting the event, as he looks to get his first win of the season. Jenkins finish at Lucas Oil Raceway was his top finish of the season so far, but consistent top five and top 10 finishes during the season put him in position to claim the Championship, while others in the points have suffered DNF’s. The Greenfield, Indiana native has been a streets stock racer pretty much his whole racing career, racing at Salem Speedway and winning the famed Halloween 200, he also followed the Frank Kimmel Street Stocks for several seasons as well as racing with the CRA Street Stocks.

2015 series Rookie of the Year Andrew Teepe is second in points heading into Saturday’s race. Teepe is 32 points ahead of James Kirby III, Kirby picked up his first series win at Anderson Speedway on July 30th. Teepe and Kirby have second and third place locked up between them. Mason Keller is in fourth place in points. Justin Oberlin is in fifth place and has already locked up the CRA Street Stock 2016 Rookie of the Year Award.

Other Series winners in 2016 include Josh Poore and Austin Coe who each have won a series leading three events. Poore got wins in the Shady Bowl Speedway 200 lap Triple Crown event on April 23rd and at Anderson Speedway on May 14th and September 17th.  All three of Coe’s wins came at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 6th, July 8th and the series last event on September 25th. Colby Lane has two series wins at Anderson Speedway on August 20th and September 5th at Winchester Speedway.
