Salem, IN (April 25, 2018) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance is set to open its 2018 points season with this weekend’s Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Birch Run Speedway located in Birch Run, Michigan. This will be the eighth season of competition for the series whose last seven point champions include Erik Jones in 2011, Daniel Hemric in 2012, Cody Coughlin in 2013 and in 2016, Dan Leeck in 2014, Car Owner Champion Bill Burba and Driver Champion Dalton Armstrong in 2015 and 2017 Champion Jack Dossey III.
Many teams are taking advantage of this weekend to get ready for the Masters of the Pro’s 200, which will take place at Birch Run Speedway on Friday, June 8th and will pay the winner $11,000. There are 33 teams already entered for this weekend’s event.
2017 series Champion Jack Dossey III tops a list of series regulars entered for Sunday’s event as he looks to defend his 2017 Championship and get his first series win. Second in 2017 points Michael Clancy Jr. is also entered as he looks to get the 2018 Championship and also get his first series win. Other series regulars entered to also compete for the 2018 Championship include Jack Smith, Trever McCoy, Mandy Chick, Josh Smith and Nate Walton.
There is a great group of DGR-CROSLEY Rookie of the Year candidates entered in this weekend’s event as they start their battle for the 2018 DGR-CROSLEY Rookie of the Year Award. Registered rookies entered include former CRA Street Stock regular Mason Keller, along with Harrison Hall, Tyler Hufford, Zachary Tinkle, Hayden Sprague and Nathan Bertino.
The talent entered for this weekend just begins with the list above, several ARCA/CRA Super Series regulars are also entered for the event including Brian Campbell, second in all-time ARCA/CRA Super Series victories along with a couple of JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victories, including a win during the 2017 season at Berlin Raceway. Three time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn is entered, he is seeking his first series victory. Former ARCA/CRA Super Series Toledo Speedway winner Harold Fair Jr. is entered to make his series debut, along with Super Series regulars Hunter Jack and Brett Robinson.
2017 series Rookie of the Year and three time event winner Carson Hocevar is entered for this weekend’s event, he was the series winner at Birch Run in 2017. 2014 series Champion and former series Birch Run Speedway event winner Dan Leeck is entered, along with Jeff Roethlisberger Jr.in a team car. Former series regular Josh Nelms is entered to make his series return on Sunday, the former series Columbus Motor Speedway has been helping Austin Kunert the past couple of seasons. Other former series winners entered include Auto City Speedway winners Eric Lee and Kyle Hayden along with Owosso Speedway series winners Travis Eddy and Kyle Crump.
Other part time series competitors entered include Ben Welch, James Krueger, Kyle Jones, Kyle Purvis, Brandon Varney, Marc Jacobs and Shawn Szep who is entered to make his series debut.
The Dixie 100 will be the first event of the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup, which will include a mini point series with the five races scheduled in Michigan for the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour. The program will also involve the Masters of the Pro’s 200 at Birch Run Speedway June 8th, and the series events at Auto City Speedway on August 4th, Berlin Raceway on August 11th and Owosso Speedway on August 25th. The driver earning the most points in the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup would be the JAS Expedited Trucking Michigan Cup Champion and receive a $2,000 cash bonus and trophy at the 2018 CRA Awards Banquet. The winner of the Dixie 100 will receive a $500 cash bonus from JAS Expedited Trucking.
The Dixie 100 will be the only series point’s event in the Road to Bristol program for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. The driver winning the Dixie100 and the driver finishing second will have guaranteed starting positions for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Short Track U.S. Nationals 100 lap feature at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 18th. Also the first and second place teams in series owner points after the Dixie 100 will have guaranteed starting positions for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Short Track U.S. Nationals 100 lap feature at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Pits will open on Saturday at 10am. The first of four 30 minute practice sessions for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will begin at 12:30pm. Lisa Thomas Salon qualifying will begin at 6:15pm Saturday. Pits will open on Sunday at 10am. An Autograph Session will begin at 12:30pm with all drivers. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 15 lap Last Chance Race will start the racing program at 2pm.
Birch Run Speedway has a full weekend of racing action scheduled. The ICAR Allstar Modified Tour will also practice and qualify on Saturday, with a preliminary feature on Saturday night and then run a 70 lap feature on Sunday.
