Salem, Indiana (Thursday, April 30, 2015): The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance is set to open its 2015 points season this weekend at the fast 3/8’s mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway, located in Springport, Michigan. This will be the fifth season of competition for the Crate Motor Template Late Model series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association, past Champions include inaugural Champion Erik Jones in 2011, Daniel Hemric in 2012, Cody Coughlin in 2013 and defending Champion Dan Leeck.
The Cabin Fever 100 for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be part of a huge opening weekend of racing action at Springport Motor Speedway that could include up to six features on the racing program. Besides the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the Broaster Chicken Top Speed Modifieds will be in action along with the Springport ABC Stock Cars, Glow Vintage Mods and GLS Mini-Cups.
Topping the list of entries to date for Sunday’s event is 2014 series Champion Dan Leeck and 2014 Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year and two time 2014 series winner Grant Quinlan. Leeck is planning a mixture of JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and ARCA/CRA Super Series events on his 2015 schedule while Quinlan, the winner of the series event at Springport last September, is racing full-time with the ARCA/CRA Super Series were he leads both the Championship and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year points after two events. Quinlan will also race in selected JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour events in 2015.
Other top CRA drivers entered for Sunday’s event include 2014 series winners Hunter Baize and Eric Lee along with Josh Nelms, Dalton Armstrong, Jaxson Jacobs, Marc Jacobs, Cole Rouse, Kyle Hayden, Kody Evans, Jay Sommers, David McManus, Mike Stacy, Trevor Berry and Jerry Andrews. A tough group of Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year candidates are also entered including Quinnton Bear, Austin Kunert, Kevin Zielezinski, Mandy Chick and Matt Mills.
Top Michigan Outlaw Late Model competitor Andy Bozell, a 12 time Champion at Kalamazoo Speedway, is entered along with his son Phil Bozell, Kalamazoo’s 2011Champion. Top Berlin Raceway competitors Chris Koslek and Ben Welch are entered along with one of the young guns from the Chicagoland area D.J. Weltmeyer, son of famed late model racer Dave Weltmeyer.
There is an open practice on Saturday, pit gates open at 12noon, open practice will go from 2pm until 7pm. On Sunday, pits open at 9am, no engines are allowed to be fired until practice begins at 12noon. Qualifying will begin at 2:15pm. The race program will begin at 4pm and will include the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour.
