JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Auto City Speedway Saturday

Salem, Indiana (Wednesday August 5, 2015): The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will head to Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan for this Saturday’s Dog Days of Summer 100 Presented by JEGS.com. This will be the fourth visit to the tricky 7/16’s mile semi-banked paved oval, past event winners include Daniel Hemric, Robbie Johnson and last year’s winner Eric Lee. Both Johnson and Lee were first time series winners with their victories.

 

Coming into Saturday night’s race Dalton Armstrong is the series driver point’s leader after six events, including getting his first series win in the series season opener at Springport Motor Speedway. Armstrong finished eighth in last year’s series Auto City event. The Bill Burba Motorsports Team has now moved into first place in the series owner points after six events after last Saturday’s second place finish for driver Travis Braden. Braden has driven the last four races for the team after Mike Stacy competed in the first two series events of the season. Both Armstrong and Braden are entered for Saturday’s event.

 

Series veteran Josh Nelms is also entered, he is currently second in driver points after getting his first series win on May 23rd at Columbus Motor Speedway. Nelms is 29 points behind Armstrong in series driver points and his TK Racing team is third in owner points. VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie driver Quinnton Bear is also entered, he is now third in driver points with a season high finish of second at the series Dixie Motor Speedway event and backed that up with a strong fifth place finish last Saturday at Berlin.

 

Other top series drivers entered include father and son Andy and Phil Bozell, Canadian brothers Marc and Jaxson Jacobs, rookie Austin Kunert, and veteran racer Jack Smith. Two former series champions, who are racing part-time with CRA in 2015, are entered including 2014 series Champion Dan Leeck from nearby Birch Run, Michigan, who picked up his first ever series victory on July 10th at Dixie Motor Speedway and 2013 series Champion Cody Coughlin, who has two series victories on his resume, one at Dixie and one on the High Banks of Salem Speedway.

 

Robbie Johnson tops the list of locals entered as he looks to get another series win at Auto City, along with David McManus, who always runs strong at Auto City and former full-time series competitor Kyle Crump. Hometown competitors Kyle Hayden and Trevor Berry are both entered, Berry was the Boyne Machine Company Fast Qualifier at Berlin last Saturday and got a series best third place finish at Dixie. Other local racers entered include Travis Eddy, Joe Morisette Jr. and Pat Zorn who are all making their 2015 series debuts on Saturday. Canadian Tristan Van Wieringen, a full-time series competitor in 2014, will also make his 2015 series debut on Saturday for the Durobyte Motorsports team.

 

There is an open practice on Friday from 3pm until 8pm. Pit gates open on Saturday at 1:30pm, a one hour practice will begin for the series at 4pm with qualifying starting at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7:30pm and will include the Dog Days of Summer 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Also racing on Saturday will be the Auto City Pure Stocks, Outlaw Enduro cars, as well as a Figure 8 feature. There will also be an on track autograph session with all the drivers prior to the Dog Days of Summer 100.
