Salem, IN (April 4, 2016) – Veteran CRA driver Jeff Lane cruised to his 12th all-time CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS win in that series 2016 season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway on Sunday, as part of the 7th Annual Cabin Fever Championships. The 2011 Series Champion extended his lead as the series all-time wins leader to two over 2014 and 2015 series Champion Jason Atkinson.
“We had a really good car today,” remarked Lane. “I have to thank my car owner Loyd Davis and everyone who helps work on this car, I don’t get to work on this one a lot, with all the other cars I’m working on!”
Lane also added to his series record of Fast Qualifier Awards by taking yesterday’s Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Award. The 2011 series Champion has now been a Fast Qualifier at 25 series events, the next closest is Josh Poore with 10 Fast Qualifier Awards.
Lane came from his seventh place inverted start to get the lead and pull away to win by over seven seconds in the event that had only one caution, which happened on lap two. Lane had a very busy weekend, besides racing the street stock, Lane also raced in the 40 lap ICAR Modified feature and was the Crew Chief for Eddie Van Meter’s feature winning CRA Late Model Sportsman car.
Phil Jenkins crossed the finish line in second after a last lap pass of Robert Amos, but Jenkins failed post-race tech and was moved to last place, giving Amos second place. Colby Lane, Jeff Lane’s son, finished in third place, Mason Keller finished fourth, with Robert Amos Jr. in fifth place.
The next series event will be this Saturday, April 9th at Anderson Speedway. More information on all the CRA Series is available at www.cra-racing.com.
