Special from Speed51.com – On Saturday, one of the unique combination events in pavement racing takes place at Berlin Raceway, the Battle at Berlin 150 presented by Sip Shine. Drivers from Berlin’s Budweiser Super Late Model division will share the track with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models for 150 laps.
Already, 30 cars have filed entries for this year’s edition of the Battle at Berlin, promising an exciting show. The marquee event will also have championship implications for all three competing series.
In the Berlin Raceway Super Late Models, Nate Walton leads Tom Thomas by three points. Evan Shotko, Eric White and Brian Campbell are all within 38 points of the top spot, making for a wide-open title chase for the local heroes going into Saturday’s race.
Meanwhile, the Battle at Berlin marks the first race of the Chase for the Championship for both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Hunter Jack, Scotty Tomasik, Michael Simko, Kyle Crump, Dalton Armstrong and Cody Coughlin are the Super Series title hopefuls, while the JEGS/CRA chase field is composed of Coughlin, Tanner Jack, Chase Burda, Dylan Bates, Brian Demland and Andrew Scheid.
There are plenty of other intriguing names on the entry list for this weekend’s event as well. Carson Hocevar will be returning to Berlin looking for a big win at one of his home tracks, where he won the 2017 track championship. Tyler Roahrig is always one to watch in Outlaw Super Late Model or Sprint Car competition, but he’ll be part of the Battle of Berlin field as well in another of his occasional Template Late Model appearances.
A full list of entries for the event can be found below.
Qualifying for the Battle of Berlin 150 presented by Sip Shine will take place on Friday, August 20 as part of a two-day weekend event at Berlin Raceway. As a result, Carson Hocevar will start at the rear of the field during Saturday’s racing activities, as he will miss qualifying while competing with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at World Wide Technology Raceway Friday night.
Friday’s qualifying session will be part of a racing card which includes 4 Cylinders, Sportsmen and Limited Late Models. On Saturday, those divisions will once again be in action preceding the Battle at Berlin 150.
