Charlotte, North Carolina (Tuesday, May 19, 2015): It has been a while since Hunter Baize has prepared for a race track he has never seen or raced at before. However, that is exactly what he is doing entering this weekend’s Calypso Lemonade Chicagoland Showdown 150 at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana.
Coming off his fourth consecutive Top-10 finish in a Champion Racing Association event, Baize heads to Illiana Motor Speedway (IN) looking to continue his excellent start to the season. He currently sits second in both ARCA/CRA Super Seriesoverall points, as well as Rookie of the Year points.
Illiana Motor Speedway, the site of ARCA/CRA Super Series event No. 4 of the 2015 season, is a flat and fast 1/2 (0.500) mile track located about an hour from Chicago, Illinois in Schererville, Indiana. The Calypso Lemonade Chicagoland Showdown 150 is a combination event featuring both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour. There will be two 50 lap qualifying races (one for CRA teams for points, and one for MT teams for points). Local teams will be placed in each qualifier to balance out qualifying races. The top 12 from each qualifier transfer to the final 50 lap Showdown.
“Illiana Motor Speedway is a different race track, and unlike most tracks on the tour, is a facility I’ve never raced at,” Baize said. “Nevertheless, I feel with the help of my VRD crew we can quickly adapt and be a competitor in the slightly different format for the race.”
This season Baize’s Van Doorn Racing Development Pro and Super Late Model race cars will carry sponsorship from Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood, B&K Wood Products, Kawasaki, Wood-Mizer, and Steel City Bolt.
