Hunter Baize Scores Top-10 Finish in ARCA Debut

Huntersville, North Carolina (Sunday, August 9, 2015): Hunter Baize continued his phenomenal seasonSaturday in the Federated Auto Parts 200 at Berlin Raceway located in Marne, Mich. Driving Ken Schrader’s No. 52 Federated Auto Parts car in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards debut, he finished an impressive ninth.

Baize is having the best season of his career. The 17-year-old driver currently sits second in ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS points with one win, three top-fives, and five top-10s. After a mishap at the end of final practice, and hard work by the No. 52 team, Baize regrouped and qualified sixth. He would have to start in the rear, however. Baize, from the rear, drove up to 12th by lap 14. By lap 50, he had raced his way to eighth. The Bremen Ky., native never fell out of the top-10 after that point and went on to finish ninth, despite a lap car wrecking him coming to the checkered flag.

“I would like to see a replay of it,” Baize told Brian Eberly of Motor Racing Digest. “Somebody that was three or four laps behind us threw it in three wide and took us out. Not anybody that was racing us even – just somebody that wrecked us. We still came home with a top-10 so we’ll take it.”

“We ran in the top-10 pretty much the whole time after we got up there from starting in the back,” he continued. “I’m happy with how the car ran. I have some work to do obviously just learning these things – still came out with a top-10 finish, so I’m pretty happy with it.”

It is a quick turnaround for Baize. On Wednesday, August 12th, Baize will hop back behind the wheel of his No. 13 Mountaineer All-Natural Firewood Super Late Model at Kalamazoo Speedway (Mich.). The Kalamazoo Klash 125 is race No. 8 in the season-long chase for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS championship. Following Wednesday’s race, Baize will travel to the (0.250) 1/4-mile Flat Rock Speedway (Mich.), once again with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS.
