Salem, IN (November 1, 2021) – Owensboro, Kentucky native Brett Hudson has won plenty of street stocks races throughout the Midwest, but on Sunday afternoon he got a win in the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway as part of the US Tank All American 400 in Memory of Jillian Brown Weekend and picking up the coveted Guitar Trophy winners receive at Nashville.
“Man, it’s great to finally get one of these,” remarked Hudson in victory lane. “You see pictures of guys who have won races here and they all have those cool guitars, I wanted one really bad and we got it today! We didn’t get a whole lot of practice, but this car was good as soon as we unloaded it, we didn’t have to hardly make any adjustments to it, it was on a rail today. What a cool weekend, to have Kenny Wallace as a teammate and listening to all his great stories, and then get the win in Nashville! I have to thank my team for all their hard work and my parents and family for all their support!”
The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks event at Nashville was originally supposed to take place on Saturday night, but persistent rain showers off and on all day Saturday, forced event officials to combine Saturday’s show with Sunday’s Super Late Model and Pro Late Model All American 400 event giving fans a full day of racing action on the 5/8-mile oval at historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
Defending 2020 event winner Jeffrey Belt grabbed the early lead from his pole starting position after Fast Qualifier Ken Schrader pulled a seven for the events inverted start.
Belt, a Nashville native, led the early laps until Hudson who made his way up from his fourth place starting position to Belt’s bumper, then made the pass on lap three to grab the lead.
Belt and was racing hard with 2021 series Champion Jason Atkinson on lap five for second when the two got together resulting in both cars spinning and bring out the yellow flag. Both Belt and Atkinson were able to continue after visiting pit road for repairs.
Hudson kept the lead on the restart and never looked back in getting the win by almost five seconds over former All American 400 winner and fellow Kentucky native Chuck Barnes Jr., with former NASCAR competitor Schrader racing back to finish third. Jeff Lane would finish in fourth place with Chad Pendleton in fifth place.
Former NASCAR competitor Kenny Wallace would finish in sixth place after starting 16th in a team car to Hudson. Blaine Akin would finish seventh, Josh Sage eighth, Atkinson would come back through the field to finish ninth, with Dallas Frueh rounding out the top ten.
In all 30 cars entered the special non-points event for the series representing seven states.
