Hectic Stretch Of Five Races In Seven Weeks To Close Out 2015 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season
Avon, Indiana (Wednesday, August 26, 2015): For 19-year-old Quinnton Bear, the 2015 racing season has been a learning year for the Avon, Indiana driver. The biggest thing he’s gaining on is continue patience in the primarily 100-lap mains that make up the majority of the 2015 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance schedule. With five races within JEGS/CRA remaining over the next seven weeks to close out the year, Bear knows he’s going to have to remain patient if he wants that outside chance at the overall JEGS/CRA title.
The first of those five races over the final seven weeks of the season is at yet another track that Bear will not lay eyes on until race morning; the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Owosso Speedway (MI), located northeast of Lansing in Ovid, Michigan on Saturday, August 29th. The Big ‘O’ Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com begins the final homestretch of the season for the premier template bodied / crate motor tour in the country. Bear has a very comfortable points lead in the freshman title chase, what he wants though, is the overall title.
“We’re looking forward to getting back to racing. Just started up college so we are going be limited with track timeĀ for Owosso this weekend.” Remarked the Avon, Indiana teenager who is a freshman in college for the 2015/2016 school year. “We will just have to learn the track faster than usual and dial the #94 Chevrolet in the two practice sessions we’ll get. My guys have faith in me as I do in them as well. We’ll be ok. We’ll just keep learning and for sure we know that are getting closer to a win very soon.” He smiled.
In Bear’s last JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race, the Dog Days of Summer 100 Presented by JEGS.com at the 0.393 mile semi-banked paved oval of Auto City Speedway located north of Flint in Clio, Michigan on Saturday, August 8th. Auto City was the sixth new track out of the seven overall JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour races held so far this season for Bear. In the race, he qualified third out of 24 cars and brought home another top five, his second podium showing of the year, in third.
So far in 2015 in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competition, he is the top freshman in the chase for the coveted Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title by a wide margin while sitting an impressive third overall in points. He has four top five finishes with a season high finish of a second at Dixie Motor Speedway (MI) on July 10th in the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com. His top five’s also account for his four top 10s as Bear is the only driver left to have competed in every JEGS/CRA race this season including the non-points SpeedFest 2015 in January at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA).
Bear’s last appearance was actually in an ARCA/CRA Super Series race as he has set a limited number of events in ARCA/CRA in preparation for the full run in 2016. Kalamazoo Klash XXIII was on Wednesday, August 12th at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Kalamazoo Speedway in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The ARCA/CRA Super Series was part of the prestigious midweek special with the running of the Boyne Machine Company 125. Bear has at least one and upwards of three more starts planned in order to keep his 2016 Rookie eligibility intact for the full schedule next season.
“We’re so very happy with the outcome at Kalamazoo. I just made a rookie mistake and spun my tires on the last restart that most likely cost us the race,” Explained the Hoosier State teenager. “Overall though we’re very happy with a second place finish in just our third start ever in the ARCA/CRA Super Series. It gives this team a ton of momentum heading into the rest of the JEGS/CRA season and also in the couple of more starts we’ll make in ARCA/CRA.” He ended.
