Salem, IN (October 10, 2021) – Markle, Indiana racer Jake Hinton picked up his first ever Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS victory Saturday night at Lucas Oil Raceway in the Allgaier Performance Parts Fall Brawl. Aaron Pierce led all 40 laps of the feature event to take the checkers, but his car did not pass post-race technical inspection and was disqualified to the last place finishing position, moving second place Hinton to the victory.
“I want to thank CRA and JEGS for putting this event on every year and my team sponsors for helping keep this car competitive every week,” remarked Hinton. “I knew it was going to be a tough race when everyone got so spread out early in the race, but my spotter kept telling me we were the fastest car on the track, so it really helped motivate me to push the car to its limits every lap and that’s what got us to the front and to be in position to get the win. I would have liked to have gotten the win on the track, but I’ve lost races the same way, so this time it’s on my side. We’re hoping to keep this momentum going next weekend at Winchester Speedway!”
Pole sitter Terry Fisher Jr. jumped out to the early lead from his pole starting position after Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Cassten Everidge drew a seven for the events inverted start. Fisher was supposed to start second row inside but moved up to the pole when J.P. Crabtree couldn’t start the race after suffering engine issues during qualifying.
Fisher would lead the first two laps of the event before Pierce powered by to grab the lead on lap three. The race would go green to checkers with no cautions.
For his win from the sixth place starting position Hinton earned the KRJ Race Products Sweet Move of the Race Award. Hinton also earned a $300 winners bonus put up by Vore’s Welding & Steel for Saturday’s event.
Everidge would race back to finish in second from his fifth place starting position, tops amongst the series’ 2021 Chase for the Championship drivers and earned the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award.
Fisher Jr. would finish in fourth place with Eric McGlothlen rounding out the top five.
The four Chase for the Championship drivers racing for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman 2021 Championship includes Regular Season Champion Billy Hutson along with Everidge, Kyle Worley and Crabtree. The series Season Championship event will be this Saturday at Winchester Speedway as part of the 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 Weekend.
