Nashville, TN – For the fourth time in less than a month, Kentucky’s Heath Helton found victory lane in Street Stock competition, with his latest unfolding as part of the All American 40 with the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS. Helton’s win gives him back-to-back triumphs at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and the same accolades with the CRA Street Stocks; throw in his win at Salem Speedway for the Halloween 200, and Helton has been virtually unstoppable on the historic high banks.
Nashville regulars Dillon Oliver and Travis Arms led the 30 car field to the green flag for 40 laps around “America’s Favorite Short Track”. Oliver quickly put his No.03 machine at the front of the field holding off Arms’ early challenge. Oliver, however, would have more to contend with as the race wore on.
Just one lap into the event a three-car accident on the backstretch took out Ryan Amonnett, Xavier King, and James Swan. On the restart, Oliver had no problem pulling away with the lead once again, setting a comfortable pace at the front of the field – meanwhile, Chad Chaffin was on the move in his No.3.
The Smyrna, Tennessee driver had driven his way into the top five and with the help from a restart, had Oliver in his sights. A problem with Oliver’s car allowed Chaffin to take the lead with just five laps to go – but lurking in the shadows was was Heath Helton. After starting fifth, Helton at one point had fallen outside the top five. But with just four laps to go, Helton found speed once again.
Utilizing a late race restart, Helton was able to get to Chaffin’s inside down the backstretch and put his No.16 to the front with just three laps to go. Despite Chaffin’s best efforts, Helton was able to hold on for another win at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
The next event for the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be the Championship Awards Ceremony the first weekend of January; additional details are expected to be released this week.
