Winchester Speedway & World Stock Car Festival; Site of career high finish next
Newport, Michigan (Thursday, September 3, 2015): Matt Hall and his Matt Hall Motorsports Team had to make the tough decision to withdraw from the last ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS race, the Summit City 100 Presented by Trucking Fort Wayne at Baer Field Speedway (IN) on August 22nd. Due to an incident in the previous race, the 7-Up 125 at his home track of Flat Rock Speedway (MI) on August 15th. While missing the race, Hall had bigger plans in mind with the next race on the schedule which just happens to be at his favorite race track; Winchester Speedway.
The Winchester 100 will headline the prestigious Labor Day Holiday Weekend World Stock Car Festival on Sunday-Monday, September 6-7th at the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval located west of the Indiana / Ohio state line and east of Muncie in Winchester, Indiana. It was in this race one year ago where the Newport, Michigan driver earned a career high fourth place finish and this time around, he hopes to advance a few spots further up.
“After skipping the last race due to finding parts bent on the car from Flat Rock, we have gone through everything to try and ensure the problems are over. We are going to my absolute favorite racetrack this weekend.” Stated the 22-year-old driver who won what was the last ever Super Pro Late Model Series (Now JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour) event at the famed facility back in 2010.
“Winchester has been very good or very bad to us. We have been there twice in a Pro Late Model with a part failure destroying a racecar in practice and then a win. We have been there twice in a Super Late Model and have gotten a fourth and then again a part failure in practice for the 400 costing us another racecar.” Continued the Great Lakes State driver. “We hope all the issues are behind us as this has been the most trying year for us in a long time. Hopefully we can make it through a weekend without any issues as we haven’t been able to yet. If we could rid of the gremlins I believe we can be a very strong contender on Labor Day.” He ended.
Despite missing the last race, Hall remains sixth overall in the season long point’s chase while also sitting fourth in the rookie of the year title chase. He has two top 10 finishes with the last one coming at Kalamazoo Speedway (MI) during Kalamazoo Klash XXIII on August 12th. His first 10th place run came at Illiana Motor Speedway (IN) on Memorial Day Monday, May 25th in the ARCA/CRA portion of the Calypso Lemonade Chicagoland Shootout. In eight of the nine races he has ran, the results have been at least a top 15 finish.
