Flat Rock Speedway up Next for ARCA/CRA Super Series

Salem, IN (August 24, 2016) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its historic 20th season of competition with the 7-UP 125 this Saturday, August 27th at Flat Rock Speedway, located in Flat Rock, Michigan. The racy ¼ mile oval is owned and operated by ARCA and has been the sight of some exciting racing with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Past event winners include three time series Champion Scott Hantz in 2012 and 2013, two time series Champion Travis Braden in 2014 and Hunter Baize in 2015.

Current ARCA/CRA Super Series point’s leader Cody Coughlin leads a strong group of CRA competitors entered for Saturday’s race. Coughlin has a series leading three wins so far this season. Coughlin is also the point’s leader in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour with two wins so far this season in that series. Coughlin also competes in selected NASCAR Camping World Truck events for Kyle Busch Motorsports, he will be racing in the NASCAR Truck Race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon, before driving over to compete in Saturday night’s 7-UP 125.   

Second in series Championship points Dalton Armstrong is entered and comes in with a lot of confidence after getting the biggest win of his career in in the July 16th 50th Annual Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway. The Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point’s leader has two series wins so far this season and is only 13 points behind point’s leader Coughlin.

Michigan veteran racer Brian Campbell is entered, he won the series last event at Kalamazoo Speedway on August 10th, it was Campbell’s second win of the season, the first came at Columbus Motor Speedway on June 25th. Campbell is now third in series all time wins with 20, he is two wins from catching two time series Champion Brian Ross for second in all time wins.

Three time series Champion and the 2012 and 2013 winner of the 7-UP 125 Scott Hantz is entered. Hantz leads most of the series all time statistics including most wins with 31. Other top CRA drivers entered includes third in points Wes Griffith Jr., fourth in points, Tom Woodin, Lakeland, Florida native Steve Dorer a former CRA winner, 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Dan Leeck who finished second in this event last year, CRA winner Eric Lee who also competes in the Flat Rock Speedway Outlaw Late Models, John Neal, Jerry Andrews, Jordan Pruitt, Jason Timmerman and Cassten Everidge who is entered to make his series season debut.

JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour regular Austin Kunert is entered to make his ARCA/CRA Super Series debut Saturday night, Kunert has finished seventh and fifth in the last two JEGS Tour events. Former ARCA/CRA Super Series Toledo Speedway winner Johnny Belott will be in the #131 Stan Rosen car, subbing for regular driver Chris Koslek who had a prior commitment. Lindsey VanDoorn, wife of three time series Champion Johnny VanDoorn, is entered to make her ARCA/CRA Super Series debut Saturday night.

Kalamazoo Speedway Sportsman Champion Buddy Head is entered to make his second consecutive series start Saturday night. Clarity Newhouse, a part-time JEGS Tour competitor, and an Outlaw Late Model competitor at Flat Rock Speedway, is entered to make her series debut along with Tommy O’Leary IV, another local competitor. Ohio’s Greg Stapleton is entered to make his second series start of the season.

Pit Gates open on Saturday at 12:30pm, practice will begin at 3pm with qualifying at 5:30, There will be an autograph session with the CRA drivers immediately following their qualifying. Racing will begin a 6:15pm and will include the 7-UP 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. NASCAR Sprint Cup winning driver Chris Buescher will be on hand Saturday night to sign autographs and visit with fans. It’s also Kids Night, with all kids to age 12 admitted FREE and each will receive a free hot dog, courtesy of the track.
