Fisher Jr. Wins Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Event at Baer Field

Salem, IN (August 21, 2017) – Veteran CRA driver Terry Fisher Jr. made a daring three wide move on the opening lap to grab the lead on his way to leading all 50 laps of the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS event at Baer Field Motorsports Park Saturday night. It was Fisher Jr.’s second series victory at Baer Field, he also won the series very first event at Baer Field in 2006.

“It’s great to get the win here at Baer Field,” remarked Fisher Jr., in victory lane. “I saw an opening under the 0 coming down the backstretch so I stuck it in there to get by and grab the early lead. There were some fast cars behind me and I just wanted to get out front early. It’s always great to win here in front of the hometown crowd. I have to thank my car owner Scott Coe and all of the Coe Nation fans that come out to support us!”

The Ft. Wayne native did have to work for the win over four restarts from four cautions that flew during the event. The most serious involving Donnie Hill and Jason Neal on lap 47 that set up a three lap shoot out with Tommy Cook starting on the outside of Fisher Jr. on the restart. Fisher Jr. was able to pull away and grab the lead and the win, his second series win of the season.

Cook finished in second. Mt. Lawn Speedway winner Shawn Amor finished in third place, the highest finisher of the teams in the series Championship Chase Owners Points. Former series regular Billy Hutson finished in fourth place, with local racer Brian Janes in fifth place. Spillers Towing put up some extra purse bonus money for Saturday night’s event. Spiller Towing paid out a $100 bonus to the second, third, fourth and fifth place finishers in Saturday night’s event.

The other Championship Chase contenders finishes included Tony Brutti in sixth place, R.J. Norton Jr. in 10th, KC Spillers in 11th, Jason Neal in 12th, and Neal McClelland in 13th.
