Salem, IN (September 26, 2016) – Terry Fisher Jr. grabbed the lead on lap two of the Riley Hospital for Children 40 for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and was never seriously challenged in picking up his second straight win in the Wish For Our Heroes CRA Fall Brawl 2016 at Lucas Oil Raceway Sunday afternoon. Fisher won the same event in 2015, picking up his second pair of boxing gloves that comes with the event’s signature trophy.
“It’s great to get another win at Fall Brawl, getting the boxing gloves is really neat”, remarked Fisher in victory lane. “I have to thank my car owner Scott Coe, I want to dedicate this win to his family, Scott’s dad Bob passed away Thursday and he was a big part of this team. I want to thank the crew for giving me a great car!”
Dager took the early lead from his outside pole starting position after Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Eddie Van Meter drew a five for the events invert. Both Van Meter and Fisher worked their way to the front quickly, but it was Fisher who was able to take the lead from Dager and cruise to a four second win as the event went from green to checker. It was Fisher’s second series win of the season at Lucas Oil Raceway and his third overall.
Series point’s leader Eddie Van Meter would finish in second. With that finish all he has to do is start the last event of the season at Winchester Speedway on October 8th to claim the 2016 Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Season Championship. Also with his second place finish on Sunday, Van Meter claimed the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge and the $1000 cash bonus that goes with it.
“I was really hoping for a yellow so we could try and race with TJ for the win,” remarked Van Meter. “Lap traffic held me up a couple of times, he hit it right and we didn’t, so we couldn’t gain anything on him. I’m glad to win the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge, I’ve always loved racing here at Lucas Oil Raceway, it’s one of my favorite tracks!”
Billy Van Meter finished third, a great effort for the Van Meter team who had a busy week fixing Billy’s car after heavy damage at the series event the previous Saturday at Anderson Speedway. Keith Lyons finished in fourth place, the last car on the lead lap. Former series Champion Dager would hang on to get a fifth place finish.
The next Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event will be the 2016 Season Championship event at Winchester Speedway on Saturday, October 8th as part of the 45th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend. More information on all the CRA series is available at www.cra-racing.com.
