Owosso Speedway next for ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour regular
Corunna, Michigan (Wednesday, August 26, 2015): After a 10th place finish in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour points in his rookie season behind the wheel of a Late Model in 2014, highlighted by an impressive third place finish at the famed Milwaukee Mile (WI), 17-year-old Tristan Van Wieringen has returned to the driver’s seat of his familiar #81 DuroByte Motorsports / Crate Late Model for the remainder of the 2015 racing season. His first race back was on Saturday, August 8th at Auto City Speedway (MI) in the running of the Dog Days of Summer 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
After qualifying an impressive fourth quick out of 24 cars, brake problems knocked him out of the race. But that still couldn’t wipe the smile off of the face of the Amherstburg, Ontario / Canada teenager. He’s eager to get back behind the wheel in his second race since returning to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. A track that he has frequented on off weekends from his ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour travels; the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Owosso Speedway (MI), located west of the Corunna, Michigan based DuroByte Motorsports race shop in Ovid, Michigan.
“This is home for all of us. For the entire DuroByte Motorsports Team and for the entire Van Wieringen family, this is our American home. We’re really excited about this race and feel we have a really good shot at getting to victory lane. Stated Van Wieringen as he prepares for the Big ‘O’ Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com. “The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour field is strong as always, but I feel we have a really good shot. Owosso is the track I’ve raced at the most in my career, so hopefully the experience there between all of us, especially my Crew Chief, Jimmy D. Smith will be an advantage.” He added.
On off weekends from the ICAR Modifieds where he has spent the majority of the 2015 season, Van Wieringen has made limited appearances at the Central Michigan speed plant and sits 12th in the track points. The Canadian teenager is also still an impressive fifth in the season long driver’s point’s standings in ICAR’s Northern Division. His best finish was a fourth place showing at Springport Motor Speedway (MI) back on June 20th, which is one of his two top five finishes. He has also recorded five top 10 showings as well.
For the remainder of the 2015 season within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, Van Wieringen will pilot the renumbered #81 DuroByte Motorsports / Ford Fusion and will have sponsorship support and decals from Nalett Trucking, Howe Racing Enterprises, JEGS.com, Keyser Manufacturing, Fastenal Corporation, Phil Harper Motorsports by Ilmor, AR Bodies, and M.P.H. Promotions. His open-wheeled Modified will also sport the same sponsorship stickers for the balance of the year.
