Huntersville, North Carolina (Wednesday, July 1, 2015): Corey Deuser has a new enemy. Her name is Mother Nature. For the fourth race this season and third race in a row, Deuser has been unable to race due to weather. No matter the series or location, the 17-year-old teenager hasn’t been able to climb behind the wheel of a race car and race since May 16, 2015, at Berlin Raceway (Mich.) with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Saturday’srunning of the Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 at I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., which happens to be Independence Day, July 4th, will be his fourth attempt at making his debut in the No. 12 Deuser Electric / Mr. Asphalt Pro Late Model for 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Championship-winning team, Dan Leeck Racing.
Hoosier State driver Deuser, hasn’t been able to race since early this year at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich. The 2013 JEGS/CRA Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year and Winchester 100 winner was hoping this past weekend at Columbus Speedway (Ohio) would be where he would make his debut with Dan Leeck Racing. For the first time in three races, Deuser made it on track in the No. 12 car but a persistent shower canceled qualifying and the Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series.
Deuser enters this weekend’s Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 looking to pick up his first top-10 finish of the season. I-44 Speedway was the site of Deuser’s Pro Late Model start and victory. The (0.375) 3/8-mile venue is a fan favorite and features some of the best side-by-side action in the country. It is also the only NASCAR sanctioned track in Missouri. This weekend, the 144-lap, Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 takes center stage. Several of the countries best Pro Late Model drivers will compete for a $8,000 check and a Masters Green Jacket.
“I’m excited to be heading to I-44 Speedway (Mo.) this weekend,” Deuser said. “Hopefully Mother Nature cuts us a break and allows us to get the race in on Saturday. It’s hard to believe how many time Dan and I have tried to race together, and the weather has decided differently. We had a car that was going to race great at Columbus, and I’m bummed we couldn’t show that. This weekend will be the start of great things. The Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 is a big race, and we’re ready!”
The Georgetown, Ind., native will climb back into a Super Late Model on July 18, 2015, in the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, Ind. Deuser has enjoyed success at the (0.250) 1/4-mile bullring with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. In 2013, he started on the pole, led nine laps, and finished third, after battling with 2014 Southern Super Series Champion Bubba Pollard and eventual race winner Trent Snyder all race long. The Redbud 300 is the second event in the JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown Series.
Deuser will drive a No. 12 Dan Leeck Racing Late Model with sponsorship from Mr. Asphalt and Deuser Electric.
