Charlotte, North Carolina (Monday, May 18, 2015): The bad luck continued Saturday for 17-year old Corey Deuser in the Berlin 125 at Berlin Raceway (MI). After a somewhat frustrating day, Deuser found speed in qualifying and out qualified drivers such as ARCA Racing Series star Cody Coughlin. The No. 71 Deuser Motorsports team for the first time in a long time felt as if things might go their way.
Deuser fought an ill-handling car much of the weekend. In qualifying, however, it seemed as if the correct changes were made and he qualified 16th, almost 4-tenths quicker than he had been all weekend. On lap 23, Deuser pitted under green and reported something was amiss on the No. 71 Deuser Electric Ford Fusion. The team went to work, and he returned to the track ten laps later. Shortly after that, however, he returned to the pits, this time for good. He finished 25th.
“We finally got the car driving pretty well,” Deuser said. “I think our qualifying lap proved that. In the race, we started out pretty good but we had a mechanical issue on lap 23 and did not finish the race. I’m just ready to start running up front again.”
Deuser’s next event will be the Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 at I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri. The Mercy Masters of the Pros has turned into a marquee Pro Late Model event. This year the race will run on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
