Two-Time reigning ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion searching for first win of 2015
Wheeling, West Virginia (Thursday, June 25, 2015): As Two-Time reigning ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion, Travis Braden goes through the 2015 racing season, he is reminded of the 2014 campaign. His first win didn’t come until August 2nd at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) during the inaugural Bud St. Amant Memorial. While not chasing after a third consecutive ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship in 2015, Braden is saving his best for what he feels are his best tracks. The circular shaped 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval in Columbus, Ohio is one of those places.
The 2nd Annual Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 is at Columbus this Saturday, June 27th. Braden is 12th in points in the ARCA/CRA Super Series despite missing two events. While technically not chasing after that third straight title, it’s not out of the question for the Wheeling, West Virginia driver to try and make a late run at the title. But that’s not the priority for the 21-year-old, what is the priority is getting to victory lane and bringing a second straight Bud St. Amant title back to his Travis Braden Motorsports team and especially for Crew Chief, Gary St. Amant.
“We’re looking forward to this weekend. We are confident that a rebound win is well within reach. Competing at my home racetrack, with the additional adrenaline boost of the Bud St. Amant Memorial’s meaning to our entire race team, especially for (Crew Chief), Gary St. Amant, I think it will be hard to very difficult to beat us.” Predicted the West Virginia University Engineering student as he prepares for his ‘home game’. “It would be a phenomenal feeling to keep this race’s victories within our stables and get that first win of the season.” He added.
Braden is looking for a bit of redemption at Columbus after his last race, the Battle at Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway on Tuesday, June 16th. “We’re hoping to have better luck than our Berlin 251 experience. After a promising practice, qualifying, and 150 laps in the race at Berlin our night turned from great to bad to worse in only a matter of minutes.” Continued the Mountaineer State standout. “First, with an incident on pit road in which two of our crew members were hit by another car and the car consequently fell off the jack and got us a lap down. Then, on the following restart we were collected in the huge pileup with less than 100 laps to go. That’s over now, but we won’t forget it.” He ended.
As for the rest of the season and in addition to select appearances back in the ARCA/CRA Super Series, tentative plans call for him to run higher profile Super Late Model special events throughout the country as well as select appearances in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
