Kalamazoo Speedway hosted round 7 of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance as the action was dialed to the max. The Kalamazoo Metal Recyclers 125 was the first JEGS Tour event in Kalamazoo, as Champion Racing Association last visited the facility in 2014 with the ASA/CRA Super Series.
Blake Rowe (No.71) led the field to green after redrawing first post-qualifying. Off the jump, it was clear how strong Kyle Crump (No.131) and Blake Rowe were as both drivers sailed ahead. Chase Pinsonneault (No.14) quickly found his way up to the top four as Evan Shotko (No.22) stayed strong in third.
The competition caution flew after 50 consecutive green flag laps. This stacked the field back up wheel to wheel for the restart that showed Blake Rowe and Kyle Crump challenging for the top spot. A caution flew for Chris Shannon going around in turn 1, bringing the field back together.
Following multiple battles, Kyle Crump took control of the race at lap 93, but holding on to it would prove to be a challenge. Cautions would fly for Avery Demland (No.15) and Brent Drobny (No.12), bringing the action closer to the leaders.
With two laps to go, it looked like it was going to be a classic shootout between the top two, but a debris caution would set up a Green White Checkered finish between Kyle Crump, Blake Rowe, Chase Pinsonneault, and Evan Shotko. As the top four pushed, shoved, and rubbed for the top spot, it was Kyle Crump picking up his fourth win of the season in the Kalamazoo Metal Recyclers 125.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour has a quick turnaround, as the tour will be at Auto City on September 6th for the Mudslinger 100. For more information on the event and everything Champion Racing Association, go to cra-racing.com.
