CRA to Crown Four Champions During the 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 Weekend at Winchester Speedway

16 Drivers Set to Battle for 2021 Championships

Salem, IN. (October 12, 2020) – Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS (CRA) will crown four series Champions in this weekend’s 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 Weekend Presented by JEGS on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway. 2021 was the fifth season CRA has used the Chase for the Championship format to crown their Champions in four of its series. Teams raced during the regular season to be in the Chase for the Championship in each series. Each series then had two events to decide each series final four drivers who will race in their perspective Season Championship event this weekend, with the highest finishing of the four drivers in each series being crowned the 2021 Champion. 

The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will close out their 11th season of competition this Friday at Winchester Speedway, helping kickoff the big 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 Weekend. A strong group of Pro Late Model drivers are currently entered to compete in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Friday evening. The four drivers who will compete for that series’ Championship includes Regular Season Champion Cody Coughlin, Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Candidates Andrew Scheid and Tanner Jack and 2020 Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Chase Burda. Coughlin will be seeking his fourth series Championship after also claiming the title in 2013, 2016 and 2020. Coughlin led the series with three wins in 2021. The driver finishing the highest of those four in Friday’s Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com will be crowned the 2021 series Champion.

The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will conclude its 16th season of competition this Saturday at Winchester Speedway. A good group of drivers is expected to compete for the win in Saturday’s 50 lap Season Championship event. The four drivers who will compete for that series’ Championship includes Regular Season Champion Billy Hutson, Cassten Everidge, leading series rookie Kyle Worley and JP Crabtree. Hutson will be seeking his record third series Championship after also claiming the title in 2007 and 2020. Hutson has won two series events to date in 2021, one at Angola Motor Speedway and at Anderson Speedway, Everidge was a winner at the June 5th series event at Winchester Speedway. The driver finishing the highest of those four in Saturday’s 50 lap Season Championship event will be crowned the 2021 series Champion.

The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will finish its 17th season of points competition this Saturday at Winchester Speedway. As usual, that series will have a strong group of veteran drivers to compete on the High Banks in Saturday’s 50 lap Season Championship event. The four drivers who will compete for that series’ Championship includes Regular Season Champion Jason Atkinson, multi-time Anderson Speedway Street Stock Champion Josh Poore, multiyear Chase competitor Andrew Teepe and leading series rookie Dawson Phillips. Atkinson’s outstanding season includes six wins, two second place finishes and a third place finish in the series nine-point events so far this season, including a win in the Hoosier Daddy 100 at Winchester Speedway on June 5th. Atkinson was also the series 2021 Four Crown mini-series Champion 

In Sunday’s 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400, four drivers will race for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS 25th Anniversary Season Presented by Team Construction Championship. The four drivers include Regular Season Champion Hunter Jack, Kyle Crump, Scotty Tomasik and 2016 series Champion Cody Coughlin. Jack looks to continue his season of consistent runs Sunday and try and claim his first CRA Championship. Crump is the hottest series driver in 2021 with signature wins at the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway in July and at the Battle at Berlin 150 at Berlin Raceway in August, as well as a win in last Saturday’s JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Lucas Oil Raceway. Tomasik, a veteran racer in the Indiana area for several years, competed in his first ever Chase this season and looks to be the underdog to claim the Championship on Sunday. Coughlin is the only former Champion of the four drivers in this years Chase, this would be Coughlin’s first ever Chase Championship, his 2016 Championship was the last by regular points. Coughlin is the only driver to win both the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and the ARCA/CRA Super Series Championships in the same season in 2016, as he looks to accomplish that again in 2021.  

Things begin for 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 Weekend with an optional open practice on Thursday, October 8th. Pits open at 10:30am, open practice for all Winchester 400 divisions will go from 12noon until 5pm. 

Pit gates open on Friday, October 9th at 9:30am. Practice will begin at 12noon with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour getting two 30-minute practice sessions. JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Jerico Performance Products qualifying will begin at 4pm. Racing will begin at 6pm and will include the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 100 lap Season Championship event that will be raced in three segments, a 40-lap segment, a second 40 lap segment and a final 20 lap segment. Also racing on Friday will be the Vore’s Compact Touring Series in a 15 lap B-Main if needed and a 30-lap feature. There will be a concert after the racing events on Friday, more details on that will be announced soon. 

Pit gates open on Saturday at 8:30am. Practice for the ARCA/CRA Super Series, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks will begin at 10am. Group qualifying for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks will begin at 1:45pm. 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 Pole Qualifying will begin at 3pm for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Racing will begin on Saturday at 4pm with the Midwest Modifieds Last Chance Race if needed, then the 50 lap Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Season Championship event, followed by the Midwest Modifieds 50 lap Run for the Gun, the 50 lap Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Season Championship event will wrap up the racing action on Saturday. There will be a concert after the racing events on Saturday, more details on that will be announced soon.

On Sunday pit gates will open at 9am. There will be an autograph session with all the 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 drivers in the midway at 12noon. Pre-race activities for the 50th Lucas Oil Winchester 400 will begin at 1pm, with the green flag dropping at 2pm.

Pit passes for the weekend are available on the Pit Pay app (available on all major platforms).  And while camping is sold out on the grounds of Winchester Speedway, the staff would be happy to recommend other campgrounds in the area or hotels that are a short drive from the speedway.
