CRA Street Stocks Continue Championship Chase Sunday at Lucas Oil Raceway

Salem, IN (September 21, 2017) – The Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will continue its Championship Chase this Sunday at the famed Lucas Oil Raceway, located just outside of Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana. The 2017 CRA Fall Brawl Presented by EDCO Welding has become a very popular stock car racing event in central Indiana with each feature winner getting an event signature trophy that includes a pair of boxing gloves. There will be feature racing action from five different series including three CRA divisions, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS, plus the NSTA Top Speed Modifieds and the Vore’s Compact Touring Series.

 

Sunday’s event will be the eleventh point’s event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Chuck Barnes Jr. won five of the first eight events, including the Four Crown events at Shadybowl Speedway, Kentucky Motor Speedway and at Winchester Speedway on August 5th. He also got wins in the Cabin Fever event on April 2nd at Lucas Oil Raceway and in the EDCO 50 at the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 20th. Brett Hudson won the Four Crown Anderson 200 and the series event at Salem Speedway on June 4th. Josh Poore got the win at the series’ first Anderson Speedway event of the season on May 7th. Austin Coe won the series event at Baer Field Motorsports Park on August 19th. A.J. Ridner picked up his first ever CRA victory at the series last event on September 4th at Winchester Speedway.

 

Sunday’s race is the final event of the first three Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Championship Chase events that will determine the final four racers who will race for the series season Championship on Saturday, October 7th at Winchester Speedway, during the 46th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend. The highest finisher of those four owners in that race will be crowned the 2017 Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Owners Champion. The highest finisher of those four drivers in that race will be crowned the 2017 Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Drivers Champion

 

To date no Chase owner or driver has won any of the Chase events, if one of the six remaining owners or five remaining drivers in the Chase wins on Sunday, they will be locked into the final four, the final three positions would then be determined by final Chase points after Sunday’s race. If another non-Chase owner or driver wins on Sunday, the final four positions will be determined by final Chase points after Sunday’s race.

 

Owner Speedy Teepe and Driver Andrew Teepe currently lead the series Chase Owner and Driver points by five points over Owner John Schafer and Driver J.J. Schafer. Owner James Skiles and Driver Thomas Skiles are in third place in both Owner and Driver points, they are only two points behind the Schafer’s.

 

Owner Wendall Layne of the #54 car is in fourth in Owner points, two points behind James Skiles. Dave Stewart’s #57 team and Jeff Lane’s #44 team are tied for fifth place, 10 points behind Layne. Jimmy Kirby’s #22 team is in seventh place, two points behind Stewart and Lane. Dave Stewart’s #59 team is in eighth place, two points behind Kirby.

 

Daniel Adams and Colby Lane are tied for fourth place in Driver points, they are 12 points behind Thomas Skiles. 2017 series Rookie of the Year Tory Lutz and James Kirby III are tied for sixth place, two points behind Adams and Lane. Cory Adams is in eighth place, two points behind Lutz and Kirby III. Only 23 points separate the top eight in both Owner and Driver points heading into Sunday’s event.

 

The 2017 CRA Fall Brawl Presented by EDCO Welding gets started on Saturday, with the pit gates opening at 9:00am. Practice starts at 12:30pm for all five divisions, each division will get two rounds of practice. Qualifying for all five divisions begins at 4:00pm on Saturday to set their Sunday feature line-ups.

 

On Sunday, pit gates open at 10:00am. Racing will begin at 1pm and will include the Elwood Antique Mall and Flea Market 40 Presented by Lyons Truck and Trailer for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, the Hart’s Auto Center 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the McGunegill Engine Performance 40 Presented by PGG Enterprises for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks, the Norton Transport 40 for the NSTA Top Speed Modifieds and the D & J Sales 25 for the Vore’s Compact Touring Series to finish off the day.
