Salem, IN (August 31, 2017) – The Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will continue its Championship Chase this Monday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway as part of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, Winchester Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks, Vores Touring Compacts and Thunder Roadsters. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.
Monday’s event will be the tenth point’s event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Chuck Barnes Jr. has won five of the first eight events, including the Four Crown events at Shadybowl Speedway, Kentucky Motor Speedway and at Winchester Speedway on August 5th. He also got wins in the Cabin Fever event on April 2nd at Lucas Oil Raceway and in the EDCO 50 at the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 20th. Brett Hudson won the Four Crown Anderson 200 and the series event at Salem Speedway on June 4th. Josh Poore got the win at the series first Anderson Speedway event of the season on May 7th. Austin Coe won the series last event at Baer Field Motorsports Park on August 19th.
With his series best finish of third in the series Championship Chase opener at Baer Field, Daniel Adams and owner Dave Stewart are the current point’s leader in both the series Owners Championship Chase points and the Drivers’ Championship Chase points heading into Monday’s second Championship Chase. He holds a slim two point lead over J.J. Schafer in both the Owners Championship Chase points and the Drivers’ Championship Chase points. With non-Chase driver Austin Coe winning the first Chase event, points will be very important over the series next two events as the teams try to qualify for the final four positions to race for the series Championship on Winchester 400 Weekend.
The Wendall Layne #54 with drivers Derrick Layne and Nathan Greene is third in Owners Championship Chase points, two points behind Schafer. James Skiles #23 with driver Thomas Skiles is in fourth place, two points behind Layne. Speed Teepe’s #84 with driver Andrew Teepe is in fifth place, two points behind Skiles. The second Stewart car, the #59 with driver Cory Adams, is in sixth, they are eight points behind Teepe. The Jeff Lane #44 with driver Colby Lane is seventh, they are six points behind Adams. The Jimmy Kirby owned #22 with driver James Kirby III is in eighth, they are four points behind Lane.
Thomas Skiles is third in Drivers’ Championship Chase points, four points behind Schafer. Teepe is fourth, two points behind Skiles. Rookie Tory Lutz in fifth place, he is four points behind Teepe. Cory Adams is in sixth, he is four points behind Lutz. Colby Lane is seventh, six points behind Adams. James Kirby is eighth, four points behind Lane.
There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 8am, practice will begin at 10am with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the Winchester Modifieds, CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, Thunder Roadsters and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.
Pits open on Monday at 10am. The first of six feature events will start at 1pm with the 20 lap Thunder Roadsters feature, then the 40 lap CRA Late Model Sportsman feature, then the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series feature, then the 40 lap Winchester Modifieds feature, then the 30 lap Vores Touring Compacts feature, with the 40 lap CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
