Salem, IN (August, 15, 2018) – The Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, IN, in the second of three series events at the fast quarter mile in 2018. Josh Poore got the victory in the series first event of the season at Anderson, Poore won the Sport Clips 200, the second event in the Five Crown Series on June 16th.
Sunday’s event will be the eighth point’s event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Other winners besides Poore include Brett Hudson in the Five Crown Series opener at Shadybowl Speedway on April 21st, Chuck Barnes Jr., who won his second straight EDCO 50 at the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 20th, Blake Hillard who won the series event on June 3rd at Salem Speedway, Jake Hinton who got his first ever CRA win at the series event on June 30th at Baer Field Motorsports Park and James Kirby III who won the Fourth event in the Five Crown Series at Winchester Speedway on August 5th. With their wins Hudson and Kirby III are locked into the series Chase for the Championship if they compete in at least 70% of the series events leading up to the season ending four Chase events.
Jake McElfresh is the series Championship point’s leader heading into Saturday’s event. Nathan Greene is in second place, he is 15 points behind McElfresh. J.J. Schafer is in third place, he is 15 points behind Greene. Justin Oberlin is in fourth place, he is 46 points behind Schafer. Hudson is in fifth place, he is five points behind Oberlin.
Travis Burge is the season point’s leader in the Anderson Speedway Vore’s Welding & Steel Street Stocks, including winning three feature events in a row for car owner Josh Poore. Kirby III is second in Anderson points, Shawn Cullen is third, McElfresh is fourth and car owner Larry Greene is fifth.
Pit Gates open on Saturday at 2:30pm. Practice is set to begin at 4pm for the CRA Street Stocks with qualifying beginning at 6pm. The race program will begin at 7:30pm on Saturday and will include the Star Financial Bank 75 for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks. Also in action will be the VROA Modifieds, Legends, Thunder Roadsters and Indy Fastcarts.
