CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series Event Number Two at Kentucky Motor Speedway Sunday

Salem, Indiana (Wednesday, May 20, 2015): The Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Sunday at Kentucky Motor Speedway located in Whitesville, KY, for the second event of the CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series, which includes three 200 lap, $3000 to win events. Knightstown, Indiana’s Colby Lane got the win in the first event of the Triple Crown on April 18th at Shadybowl Speedway holding off hard charging Jason Atkinson to get his first ever CRA win. The third and final event in the Triple Crown will be at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, June 27th.

 

In addition to the $3000 to win for each event, there will be a Points Champion from the three events who will receive a $1000 bonus. Second in points will receive a $500 bonus, then there will be another $500 bonus from a random draw from the cars that attended all three events. Phantom Racing Gear, the official Apparel Company of CRA, will again have CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series T-Shirts on sale this Sunday, which will be available for purchase in the pits and behind the main grandstands.

 

Topping the list of entries to date for Sunday’s event is defending event winner Brett Hudson from right down the road in Owensboro, Kentucky. Atkinson, the 2014 Triple Crown points and 2014 CRA Street Stock Champion, is also entered, he comes into Sunday’s event as the current series overall points leader after two events. Lane is also entered, he comes into Sunday’s event as the leader in Triple Crown points, Lane also picked up a win in the first CRA Street Stocks Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series event on April 24th.

 

Other CRA regulars entered include Robert Amos Jr., winner of the last CRA Street Stock event at Anderson Speedway on May 9th, and his father Robert Sr. who got a career best second place finish in that same event. Also Josh Poore, winner of last year’s 200 lap event at Shadybowl Speedway, Ricky Young, Gordon Watson Jr., Brandon Mefford, Jason Thompson, Derrick Layne, and Phil Jenkins. There are also a great group of CRA Street Stock Rookie of the Year candidates entered including Danny Adams, Andrew Teepe, Matt Clark and Marcus Elliott Jr.

 

The state of Kentucky will be well represented on Sunday led by Campbellsburg’s Larry Lathan, a part-time CRA competitor, as well as Louisville’s Shawn Smith, the 2014 Salem Speedway Street Stock Champion, Owensboro’s Larry Roberts, Whitesville’s  Logan Boarman and Philpot’s Derrick Bartlett and Ryan Hamilton.

 

Birdseye, Indiana driver Brian Bayer is entered to make his CRA debut Sunday, Bayer is a multi-time winner and former Street Stock Champion at Salem Speedway. Wanamaker, Indiana driver Cory Adams is entered to make his second CRA start on Sunday.

 

Kentucky Motor Speedway has a very storied past and has been the starting point for several NASCAR drivers and crew members, including three time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Darrell Waltrip and his brother Michael, along with the Green brothers, David, Jeff and Mark and Jeremy Mayfield.

 

There is an open practice on Saturday from 1 to 5pm (Central Time). Gates open on Sunday at 10am. Practice is set to begin at 1pm with qualifying for the CRA Street Stocks at 4pm. The race program will begin at 5:15pm and will include the CRA Street Stock 200 for the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks. Also in action will be the Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks and Mini Stock Figure 8’s.
