Salem, IN (June 13, 2018) – The Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, IN, in the first of three series events at the fast quarter mile in 2018. Saturday’s Sport Clips 200 will be the second event of the 2018 Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stock Five Crown Series, that will feature five 200 lap, $3000 minimum to win events. The first Five Crown event was April 21st, at Shadybowl Speedway were Brett Hudson took the dominating win. The other four events in the Five Crown will be at Kentucky Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 15th, at Winchester Speedway on Sunday, August 5th with an increased purse and bonuses. The Five Crown Championship event will now be at Mt. Lawn Speedway on Saturday, August 25th after its original May 6th scheduled event was postponed by rain.
In addition to the $3000 minimum to win for each event, there will be a Points Champion from the five events who will receive a $1000 bonus. Second in points will receive a $600 bonus, third place a $400 bonus, then there will be two $250 bonuses from a random draw from the cars that attended all four events. Each of the Five Crown Series events except Winchester will be 4 tire races, all five will have a break at lap 100 to add fuel and make adjustments. Each Five Crown event winner and the overall Champion will receive a specially designed buckle from Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing.
Saturday’s event will be the fourth point’s event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Hudson’s win at Shadybowl Speedway was the season opener. Kentucky native Chuck Barnes Jr. won his second straight EDCO 50 at the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 20th. Blake Hillard won the series last event, as part of the Casey’s General Store GAS/CRA Challenge on June 3rd at Salem Speedway. Hudson, Barnes Jr. and Hillard are locked into the series Championship Chase if they compete in at least 70% of the series events leading up to the season ending four Chase events.
Hudson leads the Five Crown points by three points over Jake McElfresh. Evan Burch is in third with Rodney Roush in fourth and Brian Hopkins in fifth place.
Hudson is the series current Championship point’s leader after three events. Barnes Jr. is in second, he is 37 points behind Hudson. McElfresh is in third place, he is 13 points behind Barnes Jr. Nathan Greene is in fourth place, he is two points behind McElfresh. J.J. Schafer is in fifth place, he is eight points behind Greene.
Travis Burge won his third Anderson Speedway Vore’s Welding & Steel Street Stocks feature in a row Saturday night for owner Josh Poore. Burge also leads that divisions points standings to date.
There is an open practice on Friday at Anderson Speedway, pits open at 4pm with open practice going from 5pm until 8pm. Pit Gates open on Saturday at 3:30pm. Practice is set to begin at 5pm for the CRA Street Stocks with qualifying beginning at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include the Sport Clips 200 for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks. Also in action will be the Anderson Speedway Thundercars and Legends.
