Salem, IN (September 23, 2016) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will return to action this weekend as part of the Wish For Our Heroes CRA Fall Brawl 2016 at the famed Lucas Oil Raceway, located just outside of Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana. The CRA Fall Brawl has become a very popular stock car racing event in central Indiana with each feature winner getting an event signature trophy that includes a pair of boxing gloves. The four CRA divisions racing in the event include the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS.
Sunday’s Riley Hospital for Children 40 will be the tenth event of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and the fourth series event at Lucas Oil Raceway during the 2016 season. Sunday’s event will be the second to last series event of the season, the series final event of the season will be on Saturday, October 8th as part of the 45th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend at Winchester Speedway.
CRA veteran Eddie Van Meter comes in to Sunday’s event with a commanding 101 point lead in the series season Championship Point standings. Van Meter has won six of the nine series events so far this season, three of those victories came at Anderson Speedway, two have come at Lucas Oil Raceway and one at Winchester Speedway.
Tony Brutti is second in series points, he tied his 2016 series best finish of fourth place in the series event last Saturday night at Anderson Speedway. Rookie Steven Woods is in third place, he is 20 points behind Brutti. Woods got a season high third place finish last Saturday night at Anderson. Terry Fisher Jr. is in fourth place in points, he has two series wins so far this season, one at Anderson Speedway and one at Lucas Oil Raceway. Billy Van Meter is in fifth place in series points, he got a season high finish of second at the series Labor Day event at Winchester Speedway. Tommy Cook is the only other series winner in 2016, he picked up that win last Saturday night at Anderson.
Van Meter also has the lead in the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge after three events. Shawn Amor is second, five points behind Van Meter. Fisher Jr. is third, he is six points behind Amor. Woods is in fourth, he is 22 points behind Fisher Jr. Fellow rookie Brandon Barcus is in fifth place, he is six points behind Woods. Those five are separated by just 39 points with one event left in the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge.
The Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge will consist of the four events at Lucas Oil Raceway for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, including the April 3rd Cabin Fever event, the two “Stock car nights under the lights” events and the CRA Fall Brawl event on September 25th. The driver getting the most points in the four events will be the Champion of the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge and will receive a $1000 cash bonus from Lyons Truck & Trailer. The driver finishing second in the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge will receive a $500 cash bonus from Lyons Truck & Trailer. The Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge Points Champion will be honored at the 2016 CRA Awards Banquet.
The Wish For Our Heroes CRA Fall Brawl 2016 gets started on Saturday, with the pit gates opening at 9:00am. Practice starts at 12:30pm for all four CRA divisions, each division will get two rounds of practice. Qualifying for all four CRA Divisions begins at 4:30pm on Saturday to set their Sunday feature line-ups.
On Sunday pit gates open at 9:00am., with the CRA Drivers Meetings starting at 11:00am. There is an Autograph Session with all the drivers competing in Sunday’s events for the fans at 12noon. Racing will begin at 1pm and will include the Riley Hospital for Children 40 for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, the Stacked Pickle 100 for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the BJ’s Restaurant Brewhouse 40 for the CRA Street Stocks and the Wish For Our Heroes 100 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series to finish off the day.
