CRA Late Model Sportsman to Open 2015 Points Season Saturday at Anderson Speedway

First of Nine Championship Points Events in 2015

Salem, Indiana (Wednesday, April 29, 2015): The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will open their 2015 points season this Saturday at Anderson Speedway. Saturday will be the first of four series events at the fast ¼ mile facility, battling against many of the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models. Chris Hacker, Danny Trent, Jason Atkinson, Greg Van Alst and Quinntan Bear all picked up one series victory a piece at Anderson in 2014.

 

Saturday’s race will begin the 10th season of competition for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, which crowned its first Champion in 2006. Keith Sterkowitz was the inaugural series Champion in 2006, he was also Champion in 2011. Other Champions include 2007 Billy Hutson, 2008 Tony Dager, 2009 & 2010 Charlie Hanna, 2012 K.C. Spillers,  2013 Mark Lambert and defending Champion from 2014 Greg Van Alst. Saturday’s event will be the first of nine CRA point events scheduled for the series in 2015.

 

The series had its first Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series presented by Visit Hendricks County points event last Friday night were Shawn Amor went to victory lane after a tough battle with Trey Craig, who finished in second. Jared Thomas finished in third, Billy Van Meter was fourth, with Scott Tomasik, a winner in the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models season opener, finishing fifth. Defending Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models Champion Jack Dossey Jr. won the second event of the season for the Anderson Late Models on April 18th.

 

Pit gates open on Saturday at 3:30pm, practice will begin at 5pm with qualifying at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include a 75 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. Also racing in Saturday night’s program are the Anderson Speedway Street Stocks and Marcum Welding Pro Compacts.
