Salem, IN (September 21, 2017) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will continue its Championship Chase this Sunday at the famed Lucas Oil Raceway, located just outside of Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana. The 2017 CRA Fall Brawl Presented by EDCO Welding has become a very popular stock car racing event in central Indiana with each feature winner getting an event signature trophy that includes a pair of boxing gloves. There will be feature racing action from five different series including three CRA divisions, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS, plus the NSTA Top Speed Modifieds and the Vore’s Compact Touring Series.
Sunday’s race will be the series seventh event of the season. Fisher Jr. got the win in the series season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway, as part of the 8th Annual Cabin Fever Championships in April, then won the series event on August 19th at Baer Field Motorsports Park. Veteran Indianapolis racer R.J. Norton Jr. got the win in the series second event on May 13th at Anderson Speedway, it was his first ever CRA win. Tony Brutti got the win at the series event on July 1st at Anderson Speedway, also his first ever CRA win. Shawn Amor went to victory lane in the series event at Mt. Lawn Speedway for D & R Motorsports on August 13th. Billy Van Meter got the win in the series last event on September 4th at Winchester Speedway.
Sunday’s race is the final event of the first three Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Championship Chase events that will determine the final four racers who will race for the series season Championship on Saturday, October 7th at Winchester Speedway, during the 46th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend. The highest finisher of those four owners in that race will be crowned the 2017 Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Owners Champion. To date no Chase owner or driver has won any of the Chase events, if one of the six remaining owners or five remaining drivers in the Chase wins on Sunday, they will be locked into the final four, the final three positions would then be determined by final Chase points after Sunday’s race. If another non-Chase owner or driver wins on Sunday, the final four positions will be determined by final Chase points after Sunday’s race.
Tony Brutti currently leads the series Chase Owner and Driver points by one point over R.J. Norton Jr. Jason Neal is in third place in both Owner and Driver points, he is only three points behind Norton Jr.
D & R Motorsports is in fourth place in Owner points, they are one point behind Neal. Former series Champion KC Spillers is in fifth place in Owner points, he is 14 points behind D & R Motorsports. Neil McClelland is in sixth place in Owner points, he is four points behind Spillers.
Spillers is in fourth place in Driver points, he is 15 points behind Neal. McClelland is in fifth place in Drivers points, he is four points behind Spillers.
Sunday’s race is the second and final event of the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Bonus Program for the CRA Late Model Sportsman, which includes a $500 winner’s bonus for Sunday’s feature winner, making the first place payoff worth $1,500.

Terry Fisher Jr., winner of the series season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway, is the current Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge point’s leader heading into Sunday’s race. Thomas Hufferd is currently in second, but he is now racing with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Spillers is in third place, he is six points behind Fisher Jr. Jason Timmerman is in fourth place, two points behind Spillers. Keith Lyons is in fifth place, he is two points behind Timmerman. The Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge winner will receive a $500 cash bonus.
The 2017 CRA Fall Brawl Presented by EDCO Welding gets started on Saturday, with the pit gates opening at 9:00am. Practice starts at 12:30pm for all five divisions, each division will get two rounds of practice. Qualifying for all five divisions begins at 4:00pm on Saturday to set their Sunday feature line-ups.
On Sunday, pit gates open at 10:00am. Racing will begin at 1pm and will include the Elwood Antique Mall and Flea Market 40 Presented by Lyons Truck and Trailer for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, the Hart’s Auto Center 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, the McGunegill Engine Performance 40 Presented by PGG Enterprises for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks, the Norton Transport 40 for the NSTA Top Speed Modifieds and the D & J Sales 25 for the Vore’s Compact Touring Series to finish off the day.
