Salem, IN (April 12, 2016) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway, after starting their 2016 season on April 3rd at Lucas Oil Raceway. Saturday will be the first of five series events at the fast ¼ mile facility, battling against many of the top racers in the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models. Jack Dossey III, Scott Tomasik, Greg Van Alst and Billy Van Meter all picked up one series victory a piece at Anderson in 2015.
CRA veteran racer Eddie Van Meter got the win in the series season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway with an exciting last lap pass in the 7th Annual Cabin Fever Championships and is the series points leader heading into Saturday’s race. Fellow CRA veteran Terry Fisher Jr. finished second at LOR and is second in series points. Rookie Brandon Barcus is third in series points, followed by Shawn Amor in fourth and Keith Lyons in fifth place.
The Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models had their 2016 season opener on March 26th were two-time defending division Champion Jack Dossey III got the win over Jeff Marcum and Danny Trent.
There will be an open practice on Friday, pit gates open at 4pm with open practice from 5 to 8pm. Pit gates open on Saturday at 1pm, practice will begin at 3pm with qualifying at 4:30pm. The race program will begin at 6pm and will include a 75 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. Also racing in Saturday night’s program are the Mel Kenyon Midgets, Vores Compact Touring Series and Anderson Speedway ThunderCars.
