Salem, IN (September 1, 2016) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will return to action this Sunday and Monday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway as part of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, Vores Touring Compacts and Thunder Roadsters. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.
Monday’s feature event will be the eighth event of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. CRA veteran Eddie Van Meter has won five series events so far this season, including four straight. Van Meter won the season opening Cabin Fever event at Lucas Oil Raceway on April 3rd and started his four race winning streak with the win at Anderson Speedway on June 18th, he won at Lucas Oil Raceway on July 8th, then won the $2500 to win PGG Shootout 150 on July 15th at Anderson Speedway and won the series last event on August 20th at Anderson Speedway.
Van Meter is the point’s leader in the series Season Championship points by 34 over Terry Fisher Jr. Fisher Jr. got wins at the series event at Anderson Speedway on April 16th and at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 6th. Van Meter and Fisher Jr. are the only drivers to win races with the series so far in 2016. Tony Brutti is third in series points, he is 59 points behind Fisher Jr. Rookie Steve Woods is fourth in points, he is 24 points behind Brutti. Shawn Amor is fifth in points, he is 96 points behind Woods.
Saturday’s event will be the tenth event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Veteran Phil Jenkins is the series Season Championship point’s leader after the series’ first nine events of the 2016 season. Jenkins lead has grown to 56 points over second place Andrew Teepe heading into Monday’s feature event. James Kirby, winner of the series event on July 30th at Anderson Speedway, is in third place, he is 40 points behind Teepe. Mason Keller is in fourth place, he is 22 points behind Kirby. Colby Lane, winner of the series last event at Anderson Speedway on August 20th, is in fifth place, he is 45 points behind Keller.
Other Series winners in 2016 include Josh Poore in the Shady Bowl Speedway 200 lap Triple Crown event on April 23rd and at Anderson Speedway on May 14th, Austin Coe winner at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 6th and on July 8th. Jason Atkinson in the Anderson Speedway 200 lap Triple Crown event on June 25th, Chuck Barnes Jr. in the Kentucky Motor Speedway 200 lap Triple Crown event on May 29th and Jeff Lane winner of the April 3rd series season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway.
There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 8am, practice will begin at 10am with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, Thunder Roadsters and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.
Pits open on Monday at 10am. The first of six feature events will start at 1pm with the 20 lap Thunder Roadsters feature, then the 40 lap CRA Late Model Sportsman feature, then the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series feature, then the 40 lap ICAR Top Speed Modifieds feature, then the 20 lap Vores Touring Compacts Outlaw feature, with the 40 lap CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
