Salem, IN (May 3, 2016) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will return to action this Friday night in the first of three Friday night events at Lucas Oil Raceway this season. The “Stock car nights under the lights” at Lucas Oil Raceway will feature racing action from both CRA divisions and the Vore’s Compact Touring Series (VCTS) with heat races and features each night. Besides this Friday, the other two dates for the “Stock car nights under the lights” at the historic 0.686-mile oval located in Brownsburg, Indiana, just West of Indianapolis, will be Friday, July 8th and Friday, August 12th.
Friday’s event will be the third event of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. CRA veteran’s Eddie Van Meter and Terry Fisher Jr. have each scored one victory so far, Van Meter in the season opening Cabin Fever event at Lucas Oil Raceway on April 3rd, with Fisher getting the win at the series last event at Anderson Speedway on April 16th. Fisher Jr. comes into Friday’s event leading the series Championship points by just three points over Van Meter. Shaw Amor is in third place, he is 12 points behind Van Meter. Rookie Brandon Barcus is in fourth place, four points behind Amor. Tony Brutti is in fifth place, he is just two points behind Barcus.
With his win at Cabin Fever, Van Meter is the point’s leader in the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge. Fisher Jr. is in second, three points behind Van Meter. Barcus is in third, two points behind Fisher Jr., Amor is two points behind Barcus in fourth with Keith Lyons in fifth place, two points behind Amor.
The Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge will consist of the five events scheduled at Lucas Oil Raceway for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, including the April 3rd Cabin Fever event, the three “Stock car nights under the lights” events and the CRA Fall Brawl event on September 25th. The driver getting the most points in the five events will be the Champion of the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge and will receive a $1000 cash bonus from Lyons Truck & Trailer. The driver finishing second in the Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge will receive a $500 cash bonus from Lyons Truck & Trailer. The Lyons Truck & Trailer LOR Challenge Points Champion will be honored at the 2016 CRA Awards Banquet.
Friday’s event will also be the third event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. CRA veteran racer Jeff Lane got the win in the April 3rd Cabin Fever event, while Josh Poore got the win in the series last event at Shadybowl Speedway on April 23rd, the first event of the CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series. Lane is the current series Championship point’s leader after two events. Robert Amos is in second place, he is 15 points behind Lane. James Kirby III is in third place, he is 17 points behind Amos. Phil Jenkins, Jimmy Kirby and Colby Lane are all tied for fourth place, they are 14 points behind Kirby III.
Pit Gates will open on Friday at 5pm, with practice/qualifying beginning at 6:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 7:45 and will include 8 lap heat races and 30 lap features for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks. The Vores Compact Touring Series will have 8 lap heats and a 20 lap feature.
General admission adult tickets for Friday will be $15, kids 12 and under will get in free. The event will feature free parking. A $20 ticket upgrade will be available for indoor seating to watch from a skybox. Skyboxes do not include catering. Pit Passes are $30 for drivers and crew.
