Salem, IN (September 14, 2016) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will return to action this Saturday night at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, Indiana. Saturday’s event will be the last of five events for each series at Anderson Speedway during the 2016 season.
Saturday’s event will be the ninth event of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. CRA veteran Eddie Van Meter has won six series events so far this season, including five straight. Van Meter won the season opening Cabin Fever event at Lucas Oil Raceway on April 3rd and started his five race winning streak with the win at Anderson Speedway on June 18th, he won at Lucas Oil Raceway on July 8th, then won the $2500 to win PGG Shootout 150 on July 15th at Anderson Speedway, won at Anderson again on August 20th and won the series last event on Labor Day Weekend at Winchester Speedway.
Van Meter has a commanding 109 point lead in the series Season Championship points with three events remaining in the 2016 season. Tony Brutti is in second place. Rookie Steve Woods is in third place, he is 22 points behind Brutti. Terry Fisher Jr. Is in fourth place, he is nine points behind Woods after setting out the series event at Winchester. Fisher Jr. is the only other driver to win a series race this season, he got wins at the series event at Anderson Speedway on April 16th and at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 6th. Shawn Amor is in fifth place, he is 85 points behind Fisher.
Saturday’s event will be the 11th event of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. Veteran Phil Jenkins is the series Season Championship point’s leader after the series’ first 10 events of the 2016 season. Jenkins lead has grown to 72 points over second place Andrew Teepe with only three events left on the 2016 schedule. James Kirby III is third in points, he is 14 points behind Teepe. Kirby picked up a series win at Anderson Speedway on July 30th. Mason Keller is in fourth place, he is 18 points behind Kirby. Colby Lane is in fifth place, he is 40 points behind Keller. Lane has two straight series wins including the win at Anderson Speedway on August 20th and a win in the series last event on Labor Day Weekend at Winchester Speedway
Other Series winners in 2016 include Josh Poore in the Shady Bowl Speedway 200 lap Triple Crown event on April 23rd and at Anderson Speedway on May 14th, Austin Coe winner at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 6th and on July 8th. Jason Atkinson in the Anderson Speedway 200 lap Triple Crown event on June 25th, Chuck Barnes Jr. in the Kentucky Motor Speedway 200 lap Triple Crown event on May 29th and Jeff Lane winner of the April 3rd series season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Pit Gates will open on Saturday at 3pm, with practice beginning at 5pm, qualifying will start at 6:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 8pm and will include 75 lap features for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and the CRA Street Stocks. Also in action Saturday night will be the Thunder Roadsters.
