CRA Announces Recent Staff Promotions and Addition in Key Positions

Duncan, Menlen and Hayn to get Started in New Roles this Weekend in Indy

Salem, IN (March 30, 2016) – Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS officials announced today changes in key positions in the organization.  One of the longest tenured staffers for CRA, Brian Duncan, will now serve in the capacity of Race Director for several events in the Vore’s/CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS.  The short track racing veteran has served in many capacities over the years with CRA, including his most visible role as Chief Starter for most events in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance.  He will continue to serve in that capacity for many events this year as well. The New Castle, Indiana native spent the years of his youth at area race tracks including Mt. Lawn Speedway, Anderson Speedway and Winchester Speedway.

In the newly created position of Assistant Competition Director, Michigan’s Scott Menlen will assist Race Director Glenn Luckett with duties of running an event on race day.  Menlen, whose career started behind the wheel of a race car, most notably in Legends and then Late Models, has started to put a mark on racing as a young up and comer on the administrative side of racing.  In recent years, his company, Motor City Racing Promotions, has promoted indoor racing in Michigan, as well as handled officiating for dirt modified and late model organizations. Menlen was named Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club’s 2013 “Promoter of the Year”.  In 2016, his company will also serve as the promoter for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour stops at Springport Motor Speedway and Dixie Motor Speedway.  In his new position with CRA, Menlen will assist Luckett with coordinating activities in the infield, assist with training of officials in various capacities, and serve as a Race Director when called upon.  In addition, he will also continue in his roles, where needed, as Chief Starter, Spotter Official, and Tire Impound Coordinator.

Finally, CRA officials are proud to announce the addition of Andrew Hayn as the new “Voice of CRA”, where he will serve as the Series Announcer.  Hayn, a Plymouth, IN resident, is no stranger to the microphone or racing.  The 31 year old began his announcing career at the age of 15, calling high school sports.  One year later he began announcing at race tracks.  During the years he has called racing at Bunker Hill Speedway, New Paris Speedway, Kalamazoo Speedway and Plymouth Speedway.  The last 11 years were spent calling events at Plymouth Speedway, which allowed him to be a part of the transition from asphalt to dirt.

Hayn has genuinely called Plymouth Speedway his racing home, and commented about his departure.  “Over the past ten years I have experienced tremendous growth in a number of different areas while working at Plymouth Speedway. I would like to thank all the different owners that stood beside me during their tenure at Plymouth, including the latest with Ed Kennedy. Under Kennedy, Irish Saunders helped give me a lot of direction and gave me a number of different opportunities that I must be thankful for. Plymouth is where I grew up at, being just a few miles from my boyhood home and to announce there for so many years was a dream come true. I cannot wait to come home in my off weeks with CRA to see the great additions they are making at Plymouth and all the people that have given me lasting memories.”

In discussing this new role with CRA, Hayn further noted, “ I am beyond grateful and thankful for the opportunity to be a part of CRA as their announcer. I have always respected this organization for its vital role within the sport and now to be a part of it is very exciting. I am anxious to be a part of the growth during my opportunity within CRA.”

The season starts for these three individuals this weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway for the 7th Annual Cabin Fever Championships, featuring the Vore’s/CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS, the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS, the ICAR/Top Speed Modifieds and the Vore’s Compact Touring Series.
