Salem, IN (May 8, 2016) – 20 year old Cody Coughlin picked up his second straight ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS victory in the Anderson 125 Saturday night at Anderson Speedway. In the historic 20th season of competition for the series, the series was back to where it all began back in April of 1997 on the tight fast quarter mile that always provides hard tight racing and Saturday night was no exception. Coughlin and Dalton Armstrong put the crowd on their feet with some hard door to door racing before Coughlin finally took control over the last 40 laps to get the win.
“I’ve wanted to win here at Anderson for a while now, because it has given us fits in the past,” remarked Coughlin in victory lane. “It’s just really cool to get this second straight win, I am so blessed to be able to do this. I have to thank my crew chief Jack Smith and my entire crew for the hard work they put in to this win and my family for always supporting me.”
Coughlin added to his current series Championship points lead with the win after three point’s events so far in 2016. Armstrong would finish in second, and continues to lead the Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year points and picked up his third straight Senneker Performance Rookie of the Race Award and is a close second in series Champion points to Coughlin. Coughlin picked up a $1000 cash bonus from Mitch Smith Auto Service for his win, Armstrong picked up a $500 cash bonus from Mitch Smith Auto Service for his second place finish.
Zane Smith battled in the top five throughout the race and the numerous restarts to get a hard earned third place finish and picked up the Fluidyne Cool Under Pressure award. Dennis Prunty came from the tail of the field after being involved in an early yellow to get a hard earned fourth place finish and earned the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award. Trent Snyder fought through an engine miss throughout practice and qualifying that left him with a 15th place starting position for the event to get a fifth place finish. Snyder picked up a Hoosier Performance Award, the Hamner Racing Engines Hardcharger Award winner and his crew picked up the PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Race Award.
Jordan Pruitt picked up the second Hoosier Performance Award. Brandon Oakley was the EDCO Welding Fast Qualifier, it was his second straight event to win that award, but Oakley was also the KRC Hard Luck Award winner after contact from another car forced him into the front-stretch wall ending his day early.
