Coughlin Has Eye of the Tiger As He Seeks Indy Success

Delaware, Ohio (Tuesday, September 22, 2015): Cody Coughlin is heading back to the Circle City of Indianapolis with a determination like no other.

The 19 year-old turned heads in his first trip to Lucas Oil Raceway this year.  A cut tire sent the No. 1 JEGS Toyota Camry to the rear of the field a third of the way through the race in July, but Coughlin’s impressive charge back through the field netted him a third place finish in the ARCA / CRA Super Series event.

Now Coughlin is ready to strap on the gloves, duke it out with the best in the business and take home the hardware Sunday in the Fall Brawl 100 at LOR.

“We feel really great about it,” said Coughlin, a Delaware, Ohio native.  “We’re heading back to a place that we had a really strong run at and we believe that we can do it again on Sunday, if not better.  This team is ready for any challenge.”

Coughlin and his Team JEGS crew have been jelling recently and have enjoyed a string of strong finishes.  Coughlin hasn’t finished outside of the top 10 in an ARCA/CRA Super Series race since April.

“We’ve just been communicating better,” he said.  “And that’s not to say that we weren’t communicating well before, but I’ve worked really hard to describe what I need better than I was before, and Nick (Easton, crew chief) and the guys (Kevin Hamlin, Team Manager, Scott Wimmer, spotter, Dave Holt, crew-member) have worked just as hard to give me what I’ve been describing.”

Now Coughlin wants to turn that into a victory.  He’s seen his NHRA family members, including his dad John, enjoy plenty of racing success in the city of Indianapolis, and now he’d like to make his own.

“It would be really special to win there,” said Coughlin.  “We’ve had a lot of great moments as a family in Indianapolis.  I’d like add to that, but really, we just want to win in general.  I’m looking forward to having my dad and mom (Di), and my sister Kennedi there with me this weekend as I use the ability God has given me to hopefully make Sunday successful.”

Coughlin will take to the race track in his yellow JEGS.com Toyota Camry Super Late Model for the first time this weekend on Saturday, September 26 at 12:30 p.m. ET for the first round of CRA Super Series practice.  Qualifying will take place on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. ET.  Fans have the opportunity to meet Cody Coughlin at noon on Sunday with an on-track autograph session.  The ARCA/CRA Super Series Fall Brawl 100 will go green at approximately 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 27.
