Cometic Gasket 200 at Toledo Speedway up next for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Saturday

Salem, IN (April 10, 2018) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head to Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, Ohio, for this weekend’s Cometic Gasket 200 presented by PNC Bank event, which will also include racing action from the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models. Saturday’s series event will be the second event of the 22nd season of competition for the ARCA/CRA Super Series, which opened its 2018 season at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville, as part of the North/South Super Late Model Challenge last Saturday, where Georgia racer Casey Roderick came away with the victory.

 

Topping the list of entries to date for Saturday’s Cometic Gasket 200 presented by PNC Bank is defending event winner Brian Campbell, who after scoring three series victories in 2017, has now moved into second on the all-time series victory list with 24 total wins. Campbell passed three time series Champion Johnny VanDoorn on lap 77 to go on and get the victory over VanDoorn in last season’s event.

 

Also entered is 2013 event winner VanDoorn, who also scored three series victories during the 2017 season. VanDoorn is now fourth in series all time victories with 21. VanDoorn was the top finishing CRA regular in last Saturday’s North/South Super Late Model Challenge with a third place finish and was the events EDCO Welding Fast Qualifier.

 

Three time series Champion and the series all-time victory leader Scott Hantz is entered for Saturday’s race. Hantz has 31 wins to date with the series as he looks to add to his bench mark on Saturday.

 

Former series Toledo winner Harold Fair Jr. is entered for Saturday’s race. Fair has raced Outlaw Late Models mainly the past several years, but made a hand full of starts with the series in 2017, including scoring a second place finish at Flat Rock Speedway.

 

2017 series Champion and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Logan Runyon is entered. Other CRA regulars also entered include Josh Brock, Hunter Jack, Kyle Crump, Brett Robinson and Greg Van Alst.

 

A strong group of Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year drivers are entered, including Carson Hocevar, the 2017 JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour Rookie of the Year and a rookie record three time winner in 2017. Other rookie drivers entered include Austin Kunert, Jon Beach, Josh Smith and Tristan VanWieringen.

 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor Stuart Friesen is entered to compete in his first ever event at Toledo Speedway. The Canadian finished second in last weekend’s North/South Super Late Model Challenge, in his first time ever in a template Super Late Model.

 

Canadian Rapheal Lessard is entered for Saturday’s race driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports. The former CARS Super Late Model Tour Champion is seeking his first ARCA/CRA Super Series win after several great runs last season.

 

Fellow Canadian Cayden Lapcevich is also entered driving a team car to Fair Jr. This will be Lapcevich’s second CRA start, he also raced at the season opening SpeedFest 2018 non-points event. Lapcevich has raced in the NASCAR Pinty Series the last three season scoring six wins and the series 2016 Championship.

 

Former Toledo Outlaw Late Model and ARCA Racing Series competitor Michael Simko is entered to race Saturday night. Simko will be making his second series start, he raced in the series 2014 Flat Rock Speedway event. Third generation Michigan racer Brandon Varney is entered to make his second Toledo series start on Saturday.

 

Activities will begin at Toledo Speedway with an Open Practice on Friday, pits will open at 12noon with hauler parking. Rotating Open Practice will go from 4 to 7pm.

 

Pit Gates open on Saturday at 8am, ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models practice will go from 10am until 11am. ARCA/CRA Super Series practice will go from 11am to 12noon. Qualifying will begin at 1pm, for both groups. There will be an on track Autograph Session with all the drivers following qualifying. The Cometic Gasket 200 presented by PNC Bank is set to begin at 3pm with the 100 lap feature for the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models, followed by the ARCA/CRA Super Series 100 lap feature.
