Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie points leader in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour ready for another ARCA/CRA Super Series start
Avon, Indiana (Thursday, September 10, 2015): The 2015 racing season has been one of letting the motorsports industry know just who is Quinnton Bear. The 19-year-old from Avon, Indiana has had a hectic year so far running the full schedule of events within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance as well as making select appearances within the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. The next race on the schedule for Bear is back in the ARCA/CRA Super Series, however Bear will be utilizing his crate motored JEGS/CRA machine.
The 2nd Annual Bud St. Amant Memorial Presented by Oakley Blacktop is set for a special Sunday afternoon, September 13th at Columbus Motor Speedway. The 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked, circular shaped paved oval located southeast of the Buckeye State capital city in Obetz, Ohio. For Bear, it’s a good track for him and the site of his first career top five in a full on Late Model when he finished fifth in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race there back on May 23rd.
“This 94 team is working hard this week getting the car ready for the Bud St. Amant this Sunday. We had a good car when the race got rained out back in June and was pretty bummed because I felt like we had a contending car to run up front.” Offered Bear as he and the team prepare for the trip East down I-70. “(Crew Chief) Gary (St. Amant) and my guys will work just as hard as they always do to give me the best piece possible and we will see what we can accomplish with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. This is a big race for Gary and it would mean so much to win this as a tribute to him and the St. Amant family.” He added.
Over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend, Bear got to race at his favorite race track, the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway (IN) during the Labor Day Holiday Weekend World Stock Car Festival on Sunday-Monday, September 6-7th. Bear pulled doing double-duty starting on the 6th in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented in the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com and then the next day on the 7th in the ARCA/CRA Super Series headlining event; the Winchester 100.
After a blowing a right front tire coming out of turn two resulting in slamming the wall in the JEGS/CRA race that knocked Bear out of the event, the Avon, Indiana teenager recovered nicely the following afternoon. Once again he was behind the wheel of two-time reigning ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Champion, Travis Braden’s familiar West Virginia University / Chevrolet. The car, which was again renumbered #94 while still carrying the blue and yellow WVU colors was brought home by Bear to an impressive fifth place finish. His second top five finish in three overall ARCA/CRA Super Series starts.
“Winchester was a great learning experience for me as a driver figuring out how much things can change in a longer race in the Super.” Continued the Hoosier State teenager. “We learned a lot that I can apply in the future at Winchester adding on to what I already know. That fifth was pretty special considering who finished just ahead of us and even behind us. It was a very big disappointment though to wreck the JEGS/CRA car. We’ve worked hard all year and to have that type of result just really sucks. But we moved on and now it’s all about winning races and nothing else.” Bear ended.
In his three ARCA/CRA Super Series starts, two in the Braden ride and one in his own JEGS/CRA car, Bear finished ninth in the Circle City 100 Presented by Greg Hubler Chevrolet at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) on July 24th. He then went and scored an impressive second place finish at Kalamazoo Klash XXIII in the Boyne Machine Company 125 at Kalamazoo Speedway (MI) on August 12th. After his fifth place at Winchester, Bear is currently working on plan to start the remainder of the ARCA/CRA races on the schedule and still keep his 2016 Rookie eligibility intact for the full schedule next season.
As for his JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour exploits, he remains the top freshman in the chase for the coveted Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title by a wide margin while sitting an impressive third overall in points. He has four top five finishes with a season high finish of a second at Dixie Motor Speedway (MI) on July 10th in the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com. His top five’s also account for his four top 10s as Bear is the only driver left to have competed in every JEGS/CRA race this season including the non-points SpeedFest 2015 in January at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA).
