Coe Gets Third CRA Street Stocks Victory of the Season at Lucas Oil Raceway

Salem, IN (September 26, 2016) – Austin Coe has found Lucas Oil Raceway to his liking as he went to victory lane for the third time in three races their this season on Sunday afternoon in the BJ’s Restaurant Brewhouse 40 for the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS, as part of the Wish For Our Heroes CRA Fall Brawl 2016. But this victory had a lot more meaning for the Fort Wayne teenager.

“I saw Terry Fisher Jr. get the boxing gloves at last year’s Fall Brawl, and I decided I wanted a pair of my own from this years and we got it,” remarked Coe in victory lane. “I won this one for my Grand Pa who passed away on Thursday, he’s the one that started my dad in racing and got me going in it as well. We were going to skip racing this weekend, but we decided that’s not what Grand Pa would have wanted, he would have wanted us to race and that’s what we did!”

Coe had to come from the tail of the field when he got the first two wins at Lucas Oil Raceway, this time he came from seventh place to get the win and held off the challenges of Terry Fisher Jr. and Phil Jenkins on two late restarts to get the win.

Coe add,” I have to thank my mom and dad for letting me do this and Lyle our crew chief and all of Coe Nation that comes out to support us each time we race. It means a lot to have so many people behind you when you go out on the track race!”

Brandon Mefford got the early lead from his outside pole starting position and led the first eight laps before Coe made the pass after carefully working his way to the front of the field. From there Coe would open up a huge lead before it was erased after the first caution flew on lap 28. Coe again started to build a good lead over Fisher Jr. before the second and last caution flew on lap 35. Coe would hold off Fisher Jr. and a hard charging Jenkins to get the win.

Racing action was frantic in the early laps in the back of the field as Fisher Jr., Chuck Barnes Jr. and Brett Hudson worked their way to the front of the field to battle for the top positions. Jenkins managed to pass Fisher on the last restart and get a second place finish to build on his Series Championship points lead with only one event left on the 2016 schedule. Barnes Jr. would make a late pass to get third. Fisher would hold on to get fourth. Mark Mason held off Hudson to get fifth place.

The next CRA Street Stocks event will be the 2016 Season Championship event at Winchester Speedway on Saturday, October 8th as part of the 45th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend. More event information and information on all the CRA series is available at www.cra-racing.com.
