Clyde Hart Memorial Storylines To Watch

The first race of ASA STARS 2024 Season is one week away! Here are some stories to watch unfold for the Clyde Hart Memorial at New Smyrna Speedway on Tuesday, February 13th.

  • 45 Drivers have filed entries for the event looking to qualify or race their way into the 28 car starting field Tuesday Night.
  • One of those 45 drivers is the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Chase Elliott. He will look to find success that his Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron had found in the Clyde Hart Memorial.
  • Record breaking Clyde Hart Memorial purse paying $15,000 to win and $1,500 to start.
  • Midwest Drivers Well Represented
    8 drivers from WI, IL, IN, MN, OH including the defending ASA STARS National Tour Champion Ty Majeski and ASA Midwest Tour Champion Gabe Sommers
  • Canadian Drivers Trekking South
    4 Drivers from Canada will be making their way down including Treyton Lapcevich, Jo Lawrence and NASCAR Canada driver Donald Theetge. Technically Cole Butcher lists Mooresville, North Carolina as his home now but our friends to the north still claim Cole as their own.
  • This is a Tri-Sanctioned Event
    Drivers competing in the Clyde Hart Memorial will score points for the ASA STARS National Tour, as well as ASA Southern Super Series, and the David Rogers Super Late Model Series.
  • ASA Branded Tours Champions All Competing
    2023 Champions from ASA STARS National (Ty Majeski), ASA Southern Super Series (Gio Ruggiero), ASA CRA Super Late Models (Gio Ruggiero), and ASA Midwest Tour (Gabe Sommers) will all be on the track for the first time together since winning their respective championships.
  • Locals Look to Defend Home Turf
    13 Drivers from the state of Florida are entered including Stephen Nasse, Jeff Choquette, and Brad May
  • Southern Stars Looking To Shine Bright
    The south’s best Super Late Model drivers like Bubba Pollard, Casey Roderick, and Connor Okrzesik will all be competing for the win
  • Spotlight on New Smyrna Speedway
    With an off day at the Daytona International Speedway fans, teams and sponsors will all make their way to the famous half mile racetrack to see the nation’s best Super Late Model drivers
  • The Next Generation
    Young Guns like William Sawlich, Gio Ruggiero, Brent Crews, Ty Fredrickson, Caden Kvapil, Gavan Boschele and Dawson Sutton all are looking to make a name for themselves in the ASA STARS National Tour.

ASA Southern Super Series
The ASA Southern Super Series is a Southeast regional super late model pavement championship racing tour, owned and operated by Tim and Pat Bryant in partnership with Track Enterprises. Founded in 2013, the Series can trace its roots back to the former Southern All Stars Tour and today runs a 10-12 race schedule, competing primarily in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina.
