Special from DuroByte Motorsports: (August 3, 2017) – DuroByte Motorsports and 14 year old driver Michael Clancy Jr. will have the first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event close to home this season, in Saturday’s Auto City 100 at Auto City Speedway located in Clio, Michigan. Saturday will be Clancy Jr.’s first ever race at the tricky oval, after last season’s event was canceled because of rain.
“Auto City should be a really fun race, there is always good competition at that track,” remarked Clancy Jr. “The track is very unique so it will be interesting on how to pass and race clean there.”
“Auto City Speedway is another track that can be a challenge,” remarked crew chief Jimmy D Smith. “Michael is doing a good job picking up quickly at new tracks this year. With the race rained out last year, this will be Michael’s first time racing at Auto City. This is one of our local races so hoping to get lots of fans to come out and support this weekend!”
Saturday’s event will be the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour fifth visit to Auto City Speedway. Past winners of the event include NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Daniel Hemric in 2012, local racers Robbie Johnson in 2013 and Eric Lee in 2014 and Dalton Armstrong in 2015.
The DuroByte Motorsports and Clancy Jr. are coming off their best two finishes of the season in the series last two events, with a sixth place finish at Kil-Kare Raceway on July 9th and a 10th place finish at Berlin Raceway on July 15th. The team was pumped up for a third straight top ten finish at the scheduled July 22nd race at Baer Field Speedway, but for the third time this season, that event was canceled because of rain and will not be rescheduled.
The teams is a solid fourth in series Championship points after five events, with only two events left until the Chase for the Championship begins at Winchester Speedway Labor Day Weekend. Series winners Carson Hocevar and Jack Smith are currently locked in the Chase already with one win apiece, Clancy Jr. is third in points of the six drivers currently in the Chase on points.

At 13 years old during the 2016 racing season, Clancy Jr. was the youngest regular competitor with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Clancy Jr. went on to get three top ten finishes during the season, with a top finish of sixth twice, once on the High Banks of Salem Speedway and at the tough quarter mile of Anderson Speedway. Clancy Jr. finished 7th in final series Driver Points and was second in VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie of the Year points.
