Special from DuroByte Motorsports: (September 20, 2017) – DuroByte Motorsports and 14 year old driver Michael Clancy Jr. will continue their quest for the 2017 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship, this Sunday at the famed Lucas Oil Raceway, located just outside of Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana. Sunday’s Hart’s Auto Center 100 Presented by JEGS.com is part of the 2017 CRA Fall Brawl Presented by EDCO Welding, which has become a very popular stock car racing event in central Indiana, with each feature winner getting an event signature trophy that includes a pair of boxing gloves.
Sunday’s race is the final event of the first three JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship Chase events that will determine the final four racers who will race for the series season Championship on Friday, October 6th at Winchester Speedway, during 46th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend. The highest finisher of those four drivers in that race will be crowned the 2017 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion.
To date Carson Hocevar is the only driver locked into the final four drivers with his win at Winchester Speedway on September 3rd. If one of the seven remaining drivers in the Chase wins on Sunday, they will also lock into the final four, if not the final three positions will be determined by final Chase points after Sunday’s race.
Clancy Jr. comes into Sunday’s event third in Chase points, he is eleven points behind second place Jack Dossey III and is 16 points ahead of fourth place Thomas Hufferd. Austin Kunert is in fifth place, he is ten points behind Hufferd. The other Chase drivers include Hope Hornish, Thomas Woodin and Jack Smith.
Clancy Jr. qualified 13th out of the 28 cars on hand for last season’s series event at Lucas Oil Raceway. His day came to an early end after being involved in an on track incident on lap 33. He looks to improve upon that finish on Sunday.
“I cannot wait to be in the seat at Lucas Oil Raceway again,” remarked Clancy Jr. “The track is big, fast, and usually makes for a great race. There’s a great field of cars and with this being the last Chase race before the season Championship event, it will be tough competition, but I feel myself and my team are ready for it!”

The DuroByte Motorsports and Clancy Jr. continued their streak of top ten finishes in the first two Chase events, getting a sixth place finish on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway on September 3rd at the traditional Labor Day Weekend Stock Car Festival and a sixth place finish at the series last event at Owosso Speedway on September 9th. Clancy Jr. had to work especially hard for his finish at Owosso after having to go to the tail early in the race after being involved in a caution. That gives the team six straight top ten finishes since the July 9th event at Kil-Kare Speedway, with a season best finish of sixth three times.
Clancy Jr. and DuroByte Motorsports entertained a large group of fans at the Owosso Speedway event, which was another event close to Clancy’s and DuroByte Motorsports homes. The group included team sponsors, family and friends. Clancy Jr. participated in an on track autograph session at Owosso, the event had a great crowd come out to see the series event at one of the raciest tracks on the series 2017 schedule.
DuroByte Motorsports will campaign Howe Racing Chassis Ford’s again in 2017 with Ford engines by Ilmor. The team will have sponsorship for the 2017 season from Made In Detroit and Dalton Industries along with Ilmor Engineering and Nalett Trucking.
At 13 years old during the 2016 racing season, Clancy Jr. was the youngest regular competitor with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Clancy Jr. went on to get three top ten finishes during the season, with a top finish of sixth twice, once on the High Banks of Salem Speedway and at the tough quarter mile of Anderson Speedway. Clancy Jr. finished 7th in final series Driver Points and was second in VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie of the Year points.
