Special from DuroByte Motorsports – (July 20, 2017) – DuroByte Motorsports and 14 year old driver Michael Clancy Jr. have finally turned their bad luck around by getting their second straight top ten finish in last Saturday night’s JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance event at Berlin Raceway. The luck changed two weeks ago at Kil-Kare Raceway with a solid sixth place finish against a strong group of CRA and local racers, Clancy Jr. faced the same type field Saturday night, at a track famous for being one of the toughest in in the country.
Clancy Jr. qualified in the eighth position and battled throughout the event to stay in the top 10, including long side by side battles with Austin Kunert and with Jack Smith. In the end Clancy Jr. would finish in ninth place right behind Kunert and right in front of Smith. With that finish Clancy Jr. stays in fourth place in series points after five point events to date.
The series will have its fourth event in strenuous four week period at Baer Field Motorsports Park on Saturday. This will be the first ever JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Baer Field. The event was originally scheduled as the season opener on April 30th, but was postponed because of heavy rain to May 7th, but that event also had to be postponed because of flooding at the track caused by more heavy rain. Another strong group of racers is entered for Saturday’s event, including Saturday’s winner Brian Campbell, Kil-Kare winner Carson Hocevar and Salem’s winner Jack Smith.
The DuroByte Motorsports team and Clancy Jr. tested at Baer Field prior to the scheduled season opener, so the team has a lot of confidence heading into Saturday’s event.
“We raced last weekend at Berlin which was a good race with a lot of fast cars,” remarked Clancy Jr. “My team and I worked hard and I feel we had a successful night at such a tough track. Baer Field coming up this weekend will have tough competition also. We spent some time at this track early in the season and I’m really looking forward to the race. ”
“I was very proud of Michael at Berlin,” remarked crew chief Jimmy D Smith. “He did everything he was supposed to do at that track. He took care of his equipment and we came away with a top 10 finish. You can see Michael progressing and honing his skills as a driver. Every time we are at a track he learns and improves. We are almost midway into our season and we are looking to keep pushing hard to continue to improve our finishes. He seemed to like Baer Field when we tested their earlier this year, so I really feel we will be a contender this weekend.”
DuroByte Motorsports will campaign Howe Racing Chassis Ford’s again in 2017 with Ford engines by Ilmor. The team announced that Made In Detroit and Dalton Industries would return to support Clancy Jr. and the DuroByte Motorsports Team in 2017 along with Ilmor Engineering and Nalett Trucking..

Clancy Jr. went on to get three top ten finishes during the season, with a top finish of sixth twice, once on the High Banks of Salem Speedway and at the tough quarter mile of Anderson Speedway. Clancy Jr. finished 7th in final series Driver Points and was second in VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie of the Year points.
