Circle City 100 Presented by CSX Play It Safe up Next for the ARCA/CRA Super Series

Salem, IN (July 19, 2016) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its historic 20th season of competition with the running of the Circle City 100 Presented by CSX Play It Safe at the famed Lucas Oil Raceway, just West of Indianapolis, this Friday, July 22nd. The ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards will also be in action Friday night in the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 Presented by Jive in a huge stock car double header on Brickyard 400 Weekend.

 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor John Hunter Nemechek tops a very talented list of drivers entered for Friday night’s Circle City 100 Presented by CSX Play It Safe. The defending winner of the event looks to make it two in a row but he will have some tough competition including current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader William Byron, who has four Truck Series victories so far this season, including a win at Kentucky Speedway in the series last event.

 

Current ARCA/CRA Super Series point’s leader Cody Coughlin leads a strong group of CRA regular competitors entered for Saturday night. Coughlin has a series leading three wins so far this season, he is a part-time teammate with Byron in the Truck Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Coughlin is also the point’s leader in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance with one win so far this season in that series.

 

Second in series Championship points, Dalton Armstrong comes in with a lot of confidence after getting the biggest win of his career in last Saturday’s 50th Annual Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway. The Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point’s leader has two series wins so far this season and has narrowed Coughlin’s point’s lead to just seven after Coughlin’s day ended early at the Redbud 300 after mechanical issues.

 

Other top CRA drivers entered includes 2013 and 2014 series Champion Travis Braden, who won the ARCA Racing Series race at this event last year, 2015 series Champion Grant Quinlan, 2012, 2010 and 2009 series Champion Johnny Van Doorn, 2011 series Champion Derrick Griffin, Brian Campbell, now third on the series all-time wins list after his victory at the series last event at Columbus Motor Speedway, third in series points Wes Griffith Jr., who got a CRA high second place finish in the Redbud 300 Saturday, Thomas Woodin, Chris Koslek, and series all-time starts leader Rick Turner. Former Illiana Champion Jeff Cannon is entered along with JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competitor Tristan Van Wieringen who makes his 2016 series debut.

 

Former NASCAR competitor Stephen Wallace, son of NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace is entered. Todd Gilliland, son of NASCAR competitor David Gilliland, is entered along with two teammates, Raphael Lessard from Quebec, the current point’s leader with the CARS Super Late Model Tour and Columbus, Indiana Sprint Car driver Tanner Thorson. LFR Driver Development racers Quin Huff and Riley Herbst are entered, along with CARS Super Late Model Tour regulars Cole Timm and Tyler Ankrum and Connecticut racer David Garbo Jr.

 

There is an optional open practice for the ARCA/CRA Super Series as part of Thursday’s events at Lucas Oil Raceway. Pits open on Thursday at 2pm. There will be a 45 minute open practice session for the ARCA/CRA Super Series teams from 4:15pm until 5pm, then a 30 minute session from 6:45pm until 7:15pm. The USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series will be in action Thursday night along with the Thunder Roadsters. It is also USAC Hall of Fame Induction night, were NASCAR Car Owner and Driver Tony Stewart will be inducted along with former Indy Car great Rick Mears.

 

Pits open on Friday at 9:30am. There will be a 45 minute open practice session for the ARCA/CRA Super Series teams from 12:45pm until 1:30pm, then a 30 minute session from 2:25pm until 2:55pm. EDCO Welding Qualifying will take place at 4:30pm. The Circle City 100 Presented by CSX Play It Safe is scheduled to take the green flag at 7pm. The Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 Presented by Jive for the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards is scheduled to take the green flag at 9pm.

 

Discount tickets for the July 22nd Sioux Chief PowerPex 200 Presented by Jive and the Circle City 100 Presented by CSX Play It Safe are on sale at several Menards stores in Indiana.
