Chuck Barnes, Jr. Claims CRA Street Stock Victory in Thrilling Battle at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

NASHVILLE, TN — In a highly exciting feature event, Chuck Barnes, Jr. of Louisville, KY powered his way to victory in the CRA Street Stock 30-lap main event Thursday evening at the legendary Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. The race was part of the highly anticipated Rackley Roofing Battle of Broadway, which brought out some of the top talent in short track racing.

It was Bowling Green, KY’s Blaine Akin who jumped out to the early lead after the drop of the green, while polesitter Colby Lane slid back in the opening laps. April 19 winner Dillon Oliver wasted no time charging to the front, grabbing second by lap ten and bringing veteran Chuck Barnes, Jr. along with him in hot pursuit of Akin.

The battle intensified at the halfway mark when Barnes muscled past Oliver on lap 17 and set his sights on the leader. As the laps clicked off, Barnes began applying relentless pressure, and with just 10 laps to go, the drama reached its peak. The two drivers engaged in a fierce, side-by-side fight for the lead that had fans on the edge of their seats, including a couple of heart-stopping close calls.

On lap 27, Barnes finally edged ahead, making the decisive move and never looking back. He crossed the finish line first to claim a hard-fought and well-earned victory.

Rounding out the top five were early leader Blaine Akin in second, Dillon Oliver in third, Gus Moody in fourth, and CP Race Wear Fast Qualifier Chad Chaffin in fifth.

The CRA Street Stock feature was the first of two events on the Thursday night card, setting the tone for the evening’s marquee event, the Rackley Roofing Battle of Broadway 150.
