Great Lakes State rookie heading west to Illinois / Indiana state line facility
Newport, Michigan (Wednesday, May 20, 2015): As the 2015 racing season rolls on for Matt Hall and his Matt Hall Motorsports team, the Newport, Michigan driver is in pretty good shape points wise even if the results don’t show the progress. Currently he’s eighth overall in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS point’s standings and fifth in a loaded Rookie of the Year class within the series. Pretty good for just three races into the season, but not where Hall wants to be. The fourth race of the season will be a true test of where he stacks up against his competition.
The Calypso Lemonade Chicagoland Showdown is set for Memorial Day Monday, May 25th at the fast 1/2 (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval of Illiana Motor Speedway, located south of Chicago, Illinois and just east of the Illinois / Indiana state line in Schererville, Indiana. Not only will Hall be racing with his ARCA/CRA Super Series counterparts, but the cars and stars of the ARCA Midwest Tour Presented by Scag Power Equipment will be hosting the event which brings a new set of challenges and a new set of drivers to run up against.
“We’ve never been to Illiana, but we have been using our resources to learn as much as possible in hopes of a good showing at a track that looks as if it plays into my driving style.” Explained the 22-year-old. “After a busy last weekend with graduating college from Manchester University has transitioned into a busy week with moving back home to Michigan. We are constantly changing things to prevent any more issues occurring so hopefully we can have a trouble free weekend and grab a solid finish before heading into a couple big races. The Battle at Berlin 251 and the Redbud 300.” He added.
In the last race for Hall and the crew, the famed 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan hosted the Berlin 125 on May 16th, Hall started 22nd and advanced nine spots on his way to a 13th place showing at a track he, by his own admission, struggles at. Nevertheless the result kept him within the top 10 in the season long points chase. “Berlin was not the result we were looking for but not horrible with little track time due to issues once again keeping us from learning what we needed to be fast there.” Hall offered.
After three races in the 2015 racing season, Hall is eighth overall in points and fifth in the rookie of the year title chase. All three ARCA/CRA Super Series races have results in at least a top 15 finish with his best showing coming at Toledo Speedway (OH) in the ARCA/CRA season opener, the 7-Up 100 Presented by Royal Truck & Trailer Sales back on April 11th and in the last event at Berlin. He earned a 13th place finish in the caution free event at Toledo after starting at the rear of the field due to pulling out of impound prior to the event and again at Berlin.
For the remainder of the 2015 racing season, Hall’s black and yellow #04 Matt Hall Motorsports / Kyle Jones Racing / Chevrolet SS will carry sponsorship decals and support from Schall Automotive as well as LMC Electric, Matrix Paint Systems, Embroidered Images, Kyle Jones Racing & Shocks, Wicked Motorsports, Rook Motorsports, Port City Racecars and M.P.H.
