Marne, Michigan (Wednesday, May 13, 2015): Berlin Raceway will once again host one of racing’s premier events! The Battle at Berlin 251 presented by Primera Plastics is now in it’s 6th year and has featured some of the nations top racers (including past winners Kyle Busch and Johnny VanDoorn) and this year will be no exception. This 251 lap event features live pit stops and has a guaranteed purse of $100,000 making the 251 one of the highest paying race events in the Midwest. The 251 has grown into a multi-day event with the Craig’s Cruisers Pre-Battle .251 featuring media, celebrities, racers and the general public.
In addition to a field of some of the nations best drivers, Berlin Raceway is proud to announce that two of the biggest rising stars in racing will be racing this premier event: Chase Elliott and Erik Jones.
CHASE ELLIOTT –
At just 19 years of age, Chase is currently a development driver for Hendrick Motorsports and competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfininty Series piloting the #9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. Chase is the son of 1988 Cup Champ Bill Elliott. Now driving part time for Hendrick Motorsports, Elliott will take over the famed #24 (Currently driven by Jeff Gordon) in 2016. In 2014, Elliott won the Nationwide Series Championship, the first rookie to win a NASCAR series championship in it’s long history and will make his return to Berlin June 16th.
ERIK JONES –
Jones, a Michigan native began his racing career at just seven years of age in quarter midgets. Moving up to stock cars at 13 and joining the ASA Late Model Series in 2010 becoming the youngest-ever winner of the Oktoberfest race that year. Moving to the CRA All-Star tour for 2011 he won the championship in his rookie year and also won the Governor’s Cup 200 that year leading every lap. He was the first non-Florida native to pull off that feat in over 30 years. In 2012 Jones joined the ARCA racing series, and in 2013 linked up with Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series. In 2014 Jones found his way to the Nationwide Series, and now in 2015 has made his debut is NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series subbing for Kyle Busch just one week ago at Kansas. At just 18 years of age, Erik Jones has already climbed to one of racing’s highest divisions.
Adult tickets are for the Battle at Berlin are $20 and kids are just $10.
