Champions and More Honored at 2020 Champion Racing Association Virtual Awards Banquet

Salem, IN (January 19, 2021) – The 2020 Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS Virtual Awards Banquet, which was presented by Shepherd Insurance, was held Monday on Speed 51.TV. The Chase for the Championship competitors in 2020 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS points, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance points, Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS points Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS points and Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models points were all honored at the banquet along with several special awards.

Josh Brock was officially crowned the 2020 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion, his second series Championship after also claiming the 2018 Championship. Jaren Crabtree was officially crowned the 2020 Cometic Gaskets Rookie of the Year and finished sixth in the Chase. Also honored was Chase for the Championship runner-up Greg Van Alst, third place Michael Simko, fourth place Cody Coughlin and fifth place Logan Runyon. 

Simko was the 2020 Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman of the Year Award winner for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Willie Allen and Jimmy Tucker were Co-winners of the 2020 Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award. Allen was the Crew Chief for Cody Coughlin, while Tucker was Crew Chief for Michael Simko. 

Cody Coughlin was officially crowned the 2020 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Champion, it was his third Championship with the series, becoming the only three-time Championship winner with the series. Chase Burda officially crowned the Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Award winner and finished fifth in the Chase. Also honored was Chase for the Championship runner-up Travis Braden, third place Charlie Keeven, fourth place Josh Brock, sixth place Mandy Chick, seventh place Zachary Tinkle and eighth place Trever McCoy. 

Burda was the 2020 Sunoco Race Fuel Sportsman of the Year Award winner for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. 

Billy Hutson was honored as the 2020 Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Champion, it was his second series Championship, he also won in 2007. Tanner Jack was honored as the 2020 Rookie of the Year Award winner for the series and finished fourth in the series Chase.  Also honored was Chase for the Championship runner-up Cassten Everidge, third place Austin Coe, fifth place Kent Carson and sixth place Cory Adams.  

Jack was honored as the CRA Late Model Sportsman Chew’s Garage and Performance Sportsman of the Year Award winner. 

Brandon Roberts was honored as the 2020 Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stock Champion, his first ever CRA Championship and was honored as the series 2020 Rookie of the Year Award, becoming the first ever driver in that series to claim both awards in the same season. Also honored was Chase for the Championship runner-up Jason Atkinson, third place Andrew Teepe, fourth place Josh Poore, fifth place Chad Pendleton, sixth place Alan Williams Jr. and seventh place Troy Phillips. 

Teepe was awarded the 2020 Chew’s Garage and Performance Sportsman of the Year Award for the CRA Street Stocks. 

Katie Hettinger was officially crowned the 2020 Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Champion, becoming the first female Champion in the 24-year history of CRA. Also honored was second in points Zach Wilhelm, third place Evan Varney, fourth place Keegan Sobilo, fifth place Dawson Knaul, sixth place Jordon Riddick and seventh place Kody King.  

Varney was awarded the 2020 Chew’s Garage and Performance Sportsman of the Year Award for the series. Sobilo was awarded the series’ first ever Rookie of the Year Award.  

In all over $128,000 in cash and product awards were distributed to the 34 CRA teams represented at the 2020 CRA Virtual Awards Banquet Presented by Shepherd Insurance.
