Butcher Leads Them All Leading Into the Clyde Hart Memorial

(New Smyrna) Donnie Wilson Motorsports’ Cole Butcher led all 47 drivers in combined practice speeds today at New Smyrna Speedway in preparation for tomorrow’s 25th Anniversary Clyde Hart Memorial 200. Ty Majeski was second fastest, Bubba Pollard third, Brent Crews fourth, and Ty Fredrickson rounded out the top 5.

Troubles plagued the #32 of Caden Kvapil as the team discovered an issue with the engine just before the first practice session of the day. Quick work and assistance from a fork lift they were able to swap the engine and make it on track for 7 laps in the final session.

2020 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Chase Elliott turned the 11th fastest lap in the 3rd session.

Tomorrow the teams will have the challenge of going straight into qualifying at 4:30PM with no practice time before. A last chance qualifier will hit the track at 6PM followed by an on-track autograph session at 6:30PM and the 25th Anniversary of the Clyde Hart Memorial will go green at 8:00PM EST.

The Clyde Hart Memorial will kick off the 2024 STARS National Tour schedule as well as be the 2nd race for the Southern Super Series this year.

Founded in 2013, the Series can trace its roots back to the former Southern All Stars Tour and today runs a 10-12 race schedule, competing primarily in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina.
